I lost my boat on the Skykomish on Saturday (9/18). It ran by Big Eddy
around 5:30pm. I'm new to the area and have no clue where the Skykomish
goes.

If anyone has any leads or suggestions on how to get it back LET ME KNOW.

And no, I didn't have my name/number on it.

Red Riot Disco, float bags attached so it should be floating somewhere!

Thanks all,

Ryan

The Skykomish (wiping the coke off the screen that blew out my nose when I read this post) flows out of the Cascades eventually joining the Snoqulamie and forming the Snohomish River. The Snohomish drains into Puget Sound just North of Everett.

If you cross the Railroad tracks at Index you can accesses a pretty good portion of the upper river. There is also some access where the Wallace River comes in as well as the Sultan.

Now if you had a boat ... ;\)

Thanks Capt,

If you missed it, I'm new to the area. I am familiar with the river that I paddle on but not the area that continues past "what I call" big eddie. I was hopeing some friendly fisherman could help out a little instead of providing their .02 cents. I have paddle the same section 6 times.

Big Eddie is a park of some sort with a dirt launch. Many kayakers, rafters use this as a take out. Its around mile marker 32 I think on Hwy 2.

Again if anyone has seen it give me a shout.

Thanks again.
Ryan

Forgive me if I was brash I just found it a little odd. Anyway as I told you. At Gold Bar there is a good place to look because the water shallows splits up a little bit there I'm not sure of the road name but there really isn't to much to pick from it's just upstream from the town the excess is in between two properties with a little trail the access is a 1/8 mi. walk good luck

Since no one seems to want to ask but I suspect everyone is wondering... just how did you lose that piece of tupperware anyway ?? did you fall out and it floated off ??? Did it jump into the river while you were not looking and make a break for it ??? I know it hurts but tell us the story, it should be pretty good.

That was funny! Not losing the boat, but the tupperware comment! \:D

"tupperware"

I'm still cracking up.

I bet I just burst out loud laughing next time I see some "tupperware" floating on down the river. I bet the person in it will think I'm just whacked. \:D

Haha,

The water was pretty high and I ran a section while my buddies walked it. I didn't wait long enough for them to walk the entire rapid and went for it. I got stuck in a HUGE hole and couldn't roll or get pushed out of it. Pretty crazy, it was like I was in a washing machine.

Anyways, my buddy went after my boat and got caught in a hole himself and had to swim. We had 4 swims total for the day. The water was pretty high and nasty.

It floated like a champ far far away. So lesson's learned...Don't go staight into 3 ft deep holes and wait until your buddies are at the bottom of the rapid. \:\) Oh well...

Unity,

My Lilttle Bro is a crazy creeker that padaddles almost daily and frequents:
http://boatertalk.com/

I would suggest hooking up with some other liquid addicts on that site for some help. he goes by Kirsplat.

I think the tupperware thing is tooo funny , forgive me if I seem sarcastic but I find it ironic that a kayaker would ask fishermen to help him out , after having numerous kayakers do there cute little rolls and jump there little boats up and down in front of me and the rest of the fishermen and then look at us as if we were impressed that you just spooked every fish in the pool. you may not be one of them that does that but it does get pretty aggravating when they do . But I am glad you got out without getting hurt, I fish the Sky alot and if we find your boat I'll let you know. Were you above or below the High bridge

Unity,
My suggestion is to borrow a boat and float from Big Eddy to Sultan ASAP. This is about 6 miles, mostly class I, can probably be done in a kayak in a coupla hours. Alternative is to float only to Gold Bar which is less than half way. You can access the river for a kayak takeout at Goldbar by crossing the railroad tracks at the little park just east of the park and ride. Somebody along the river is going to find that boat, if its still floating, and not everyone is honest enough to look for the original owner.
Good Luck!

I know lots of tupper boaters.. a crazy lot of Suburu driving, Phish listening, no gear packing adrenalin junkies. Kinda good to have some around when you need a safety boat in big water... I have always found it odd that none of them fish, like ever. They do somehow always have pot and find really hot chicks while maintaining really cool jobs that pay almost nothing...

This stereotyping is not helping you find your boat ... I just can't help it.

Now I am spitting coke on the screen.

Lets not forget the PETA stickers and proud to be a democrat etc. Stereotyping! What fun.

unityrun, when I suggested you move this to the main board, I neglected to tell you that you might catch some stuff about it!!! Have to admit, pretty funny stuff though. Anyway, I may be on the High Bridge drift Saturday and will keep an eye out for your boat.

No worries. I may be going down the river tomorrow as well. Does anyone know a good take out around Sultan?

FYI, I don't mind getting crap from you guys...have your fun at my expense. However, everytime I get an email saying there has been a reply I smile now b/c I know its some smart ass comment and I'm curious to what you guys have to say. All in good fun.

Keep you eyes and ears open for me!

Let's see ... Good take out on the Sultan??

I know! Try the boat launch there! ;\)

It really is just a gravel bar at the mouth of the Sultan. Under the Railroad Bridge. This is the takeout we use if putting in at the High Bridge or "Big Eddy"

Good Luck.

O.K Unity... you knew I would bite-

I once was floating middle fork of the Salmon with a pretty large group. A tupper boater sort of was tagging along. At camp he pulled in and introduced himself. Talking with him, he had his boat, and a small dry bag with.

Two jars of peanut butter
A big bag of weed
A bottle of 151 ( max punch min space )
some power bars.
A water filter and plastic bottle
A small sleeping bag and almost a change of clothes.

He was an alright guy to talk with but insisted he needed nothing from us ( offered him dinner) Anyway, he was a lot like a Racoon.. He would show up late at night and when everyone was asleep would come in camp and root around for left overs.. This went on for 5 nights.. He was looking pretty tore up by the last day. Here is the kicker, when we got to the takeout there was the hottest chick you can imagine ( did have hairy arm pits however) Waiting for.... Yea, you guessed it. So they hopped into the Vanagon and headed to who knows where.
