My husband and I are debating whether or not it would be worth the effort and gas to tow our boat from Tacoma to the Chehalis River. Anybody having any luck off the bank behind Walmart/at the park (Aberdeen)? Thanks!

I fished that area thursday from my boat. I did not do well. I did see the bankies in the walmart area catching fish. Heard tuesday and wednesday were better for the boats. The nets were in at that area friday. Don't know the affect they had.
Good luck

Shefisher: Here is what I know.........friday and Saturday(today) in some areas of the river between Montesano and Fuller Bridge, there were LOT'S of boats......jet, drift, cats, and a few bankies in the pump house area. Guide boats were catching some fish but then everyone had "something". Not as many jacks this year, don't know why. Not seeing "lot's of silvers". Don't target on kings but watched 1 boat on friday catch "lot's", some bright........kept.........many dark........released!!! October 15th, the Humptulips opens.......I'd try and find a rock to stand on........think there are lot's of fish in that river. "Worse day sport fsihing, still better than the best day working"

Thanks to FishCatcher and DrifterWA for the detailed reports! We made our way to Aberdeen this morning to fish the banks of the Chehalis - fishing was great; catching was good. We caught 1 slightly blushing Coho buck and 1 chrome Chinook hen. Others along the bank did well also.

Great to here you got fish. I was there from 11am to 1pm. Was slow where I was. Saw a boat land a silver and a yellow rod bankie land a small king. Watched one of the Indian net boats put nets in at noon. They started pulling sometime before 1pm. Their net could have went from shore to shore. They did leave enough room for boats to go either side. A friend and I counted 20 fish before we left. They still had some net to pull in.

Shefisher and hubby, the Big GB: It was nice fishin' with you folks again and seeing you get into some fish. Thanks for the encouraging words that got me up and running in the posting mode again, flamers be damned. Just so you all know, Shefisher wasn't kidding about the chrome hen. Nice fish, you two:

Shefisher, & Doc, I have a couple of questions... By the looks of the pictures is high tide best to fish? Do you have to wear waders? Do the spinners have to be single barbless or can you run them stock? Lastly, obviously clipped or unclipped fishery? Winterun.

High tide was definitely prime time with or without waders (depending on where you are fishing). So, bring them just in case. Single barbless hook and according to Rules and Regs pg. 33 - no more than 2 adults may be retained but only 1 may be an adult Chinook, clipped or unclipped.
