This all may be quite obvious to most of you , but is indeed new to me , so bear with me. I have been fishing the Green and just assumed it would be single hooks, barbless and fished as such. I actually like the barbless hooks now after goring myself a few times. After re-reading the regs, I called F&W. AT first I got quotes from the book with no real explanation and was told that 1 hook-barbless was it. I was transferred a few times and ended up with the guy who always seems to know the regs without reading right from the book. So, I ambushed him with questions. Poor guy! So, anything that floats on its own - can have treble hooks as long as the weight is at least 12 inches above the lure-setup. I was actually asking about plugs and lures and was shocked to hear I didn't have to take off the trebles. Now I actually didn't ask about corkies as I had many other questions, but they do float on their own right? This really wasn't so much of an issue for me as I normally just use 1 hook-barbless. But, to hear that trebles are actually legal with a floating lure and weight above 12 inches, I may throw out some more floating spinners. I am not handy at taking off treble hooks and putting singles on, so this is interesting. However, I've always liked how easy it was to remove the barbless hook from a non-retainable fish and from myself. Just interesting info to me that I didn't find in the guide book.
Ps The fish were jumping big time just below MlK yesterday. There is very few spots of access and I drove all up and down the river. I thought they might be fresher and friskier on the lower part, but it looks like most of the bank access is in Auburn.
