... painting a few of this season's "double glow" blackmouth spoons. Blackies beware!

Those look really nice Downriggin'! I am curious about the paint as well. Do you have to add some sort of a clear coat to protect the finish?

DR- where do you get the double glow spoon blanks to paint? And, does the blue/green paint also glow? And, where do you get the paint? And, whats your best kept downriggin' secret? (Thought I'd try)

The spoon blanks were purchased from Stamina .
Great prices from these folks.

The paint is actually a little trick- permanent ink! I took a green Sharpie and arranged a pattern (or line) and then took clear vinyl or vinyl glow paint and applied it over the ink.. The acetone in the paint smears the ink to give this effect. Cool huh?

Cabelas or Sportsman's Warehouse carries the paint.

Man I would love to have you demonstrate that effect! Great job!

I would have done it a little differently... Take a piece of thin celophane (A plastic baggy works too) and crinkle it up. Then touch it in the paint you want to put on the lure and lightly touch it to the lure. Then you can twist your hand if you want to give a different effect. The crinkled celphane will only touch the lure here and there giving you a nice splotched effect. The effect would be similar to the one on the left. I'm not sure how I would have gone about doing the striped ones unless I used a stippling effect with the airbrush. I've never tried that though. Hmmm
