If there is life beyond fishing, intelligent life that is, I don't find it on this forum.

It's an election year, and a discussion of politics could help inform our BB neighbors. But not here. Can intelligent and reasonable people disagree? This forum seems dominated by invective, innuendo, and juvenile tripe in place of spirited debate. Does anyone believe they're actually contributing useful information or persuading others to their point of view?

Maybe some participate here as a free-for-all kind of mindless entertainment. That's about the best I could find. If that's not it, why do you post here?

Sincerely,

Salmo g.

It's like sitting around the campfire swapping lies and pusing your friends buttons. Usesless banter to some mild entertainment for others.

Lately, I tend to agree with your sad commentary, Salmo. Prior to the Iraq war, I thought there were more well thougth out posts. Some who used to post don't anymore (what happened to CWU Girl?) I guess you have to take the "good with the bad."

I do believe that this type of forum has good potential to get instentaneous feedback to your point of view. As you implied, unfortunately, it turns into more of a personal attack type of venue than honest sharing.

\:o I've resulted to name-calling as of late. Lowering myself to the level of the bullies here is not something I'm proud of, so I'll go back into ignore mode when they post.

Salmo...you better stick to fishing related subjects. You're pretty good at those topics and tend to stay civil. Politics and religion , on the other hand, seem to bring out the primal urges....like beating your fellow ape over the head with a big club and pounding your chest just before the primal war hoop.

Salmo-

In all seriousness...look back at the content and ask yourself where the negativity is coming from.

IMO, the ugliness stems from perhaps three individual posters.

h2o....some might ....just might view your asessment of the world as off base....as you see those who don't share your view.

"why else do you think an booze guzzlin', cocaine snortin, frat boy might find Jesus shortly before a run at the presidency...."

Since when is the truth negative? Inflammatory....maybe. Worthy of serious discussion? Certainly...especially in the context of that particular conversation.

Nice try though, got any more for me?

Gpa-

Regardless of what you think of my views your responses to mine and anyone elses well made points are consistently the most negative and off topic. You've made racist remarks on this board and deleted what was perhaps the most tasteless joke I've ever seen, and that's saying something. If you wouldn't resort to such tactics you'd have the repect of a lot more people on this board, including mine. As it is...........................

If you can't attack the message, attack the messenger....right? What's great about it is you don't even base the attack on a shred of truth or bit of evidence, you just pull the stuff out of your a$$...the manson stuff is great btw, you know cuz' I'm 'psycho' and all.

Papaslap-

Get real, dude was responding to one of your many poorly made insults. Should I crawl the archives looking for your insults and attacks and place them side by side with his 'attack'? Although it might be fun, seems a waste of time as anyone that spends any time here at all can plainly see, you are good at it because it is ALL YOU DO.

Now is THAT an attack?

Here is my approach to this forum...

I am in attack mode, yes....hopefully you won't see me go after any one specifically as much as their ideas. I expect that will raise certain peoples hackles to the point that they will say something buffoonish....

Mission Accomplished.

H2O......You do kind look like Charlie...You are right about the combative nature of this board and sometimes the comments do go over the line. To me it is not as serious as it seems to you. I prefer to have serious conversations in person and will reserve the ones here for entertainment value only.

I think that this forum is serving it's purpose beautifully....

It keeps the fishing forum (you know, Piscatorial Pursuits) relatively garbage-free and enjoyable.

And it gives people that never have anything to say about fishing a place to see their drivel on the internet.

Kinda like the "trash" folder on your email.

yeah, but you couldn't avoid posting here just as you couldn't avoid posting while they were on the main board.

You seem overly concerned for someone who thinks its all trash. I have a feeling you could care less when the conversation is dominated by those that share your views.

gpa-

If you are going to compare me to serial killers, how about having some imagination?Give me someone with some moxy, you know like Ed Gein, Ted Bundy or Robert Ramirez. In fact the latter makes even more sense because you could tie in the whole Heavy Metal/Satanism angle and really make it stick.

I'd wager I look more like AuntyM than Chucky Manson, but it'd be close. Additionally, instead of a swastika tattoed to my forehaed I went with a nice upside-down cross.

Salmo,

I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment.

When this forum first opened, I posted here quite a bit...but as I saw the teeth and claws come out I vamoosed elsewhere.

There are a few other boards I frequent that I can argue on if needed..had better hopes for this one.
