At a coffee shop in Baghdad, where men gathered to watch Bush on television, one customer, Abdul-Kader Abdul-Rahim, said he did not doubt that the U.S. military would investigate the abuse. But he doubted that this would change conditions in Iraq.


"I do believe the president when he talks about investigation because they live in a democracy and in this democracy even Bush can be investigated," he said.

Guess they don't understand partisan politics, do they?

Don't lose sight of who the enemy is.....No matter how many apologies are given and no matter what we do the Islamists will still hate us to death.

Did anyone see the picture of the guy the FBI arrested in Portland in connection with the Madrid bombings? You'd never of suspected him as being a fanatical Muslim.

However, he's only been charged, not convicted.

I'd hate to think we have to start locking up ALL the Muslims because we don't know which ones are dangerous and which aren't. But I hate to be in a reactionary mode all the time.

The Whabbi clerics have declared a holy war against the west and its allies. They have also included their own that support or puppet our views. They have made it more than clear that until the former Ottoman empire is restored to Islam and Isreal ceases to exist their will be a fight. So if anyone thinks that this does not include all of Islam they are nuts.

Grandpa and The King, if you both feel this way about the Muslims then how can you support the war in Iraq that has the stated aim of liberating the Iraqi people from Sadaam Hussein? We are going to be turning power over to them in 7.5 weeks. Doesn't it concern you that we are just sowing the seeds of our own disaster? For all the terrible things about Sadaam, the one thing you could say is that the Iraqi society did not and could not make a move without his blessing. In my mind one man would seem to be easier to control than 25 million, especially if pretty much all of them(Grandpa's words) want to kill us.

Everyone deserves a chance at freedom. I suspect that things will go to hell in Iraq before and if they ever get better. I liken it to the kids of hostile divorced parents. They are the battlefeild of two different idiologies.

I was surprised when I first saw his pic. Then they showed his middle eastern wife with semi-traditional muslim dress and explained that he had converted to Islam some time ago. He also was the lawyer for some muslims that have been linked to some kind of terrorist organization at one point.

Has anyone heard if this guy was even in Spain during that time (or ever??)?

And we all know what a good track record the FBI has in high profile cases.

A friend of mine said he thought the arabs in the middle east by an large are not capable of rational thought. I would say get out of the whole area and let them all kill each other rather than killing us but we tried that under Clinton for 8 years and we were attacked. We are always saving people who don't appreciate it and giving money to people who hate us and work against us.

Not sure where this will all lead but the current scandal really gave fuel to the fire for the liberal appeasers who will now gloat and try to force a pull out ....they will figure out a way to talk to the people who hates us since it is really Bush they hate....once John Kerry gets in to office they will warm up to the US and stop killing us. right?

GP: Glad to see you finally admit that Kerry will be the next pres. But I agree this is an awful morass that has no simple solution. Still we sure don't seem to be doing any good by invading them. What's the answer now? I don't know, but I do know this war was a damn poor idea.

I think maybe we should do what Nixon did in Vietnam. Declare victory, turn it over to them and get the hell out. Things will still be a mess there. I fear they always will be. But never lose sight of the fact that there never was any serious terrorist threat from Iraq. Oh, yeah, I forgot about all those WMDs.

Seems to me we are trying to set up a presence in the area from which to checkmate Iran and Syria....I think all of those people over there are so backwards and are living in the dark ages....we should get the heck out of there as soon as possible. The attempts by the Muslims to take over Western civilization will go on no matter what.
