A few mornings ago on my walk down to the river I noticed that Centralia City Light cut back a lot of overgrowth along an emergency outflow flume roughly 1.5 miles downstream from the Centralia Dam on the Nisqually. What they did was create a number of very large debris piles and sent them on their way downstream, only they didn't get very far. I also don't see them moving anytime soon. With Alder Lake not near capacity and the lack of rain the water probably won't reach a high enough stage until early next year.
This is just one of four large piles within .5 miles of the outlfow. Aside from being a mess in the river, this also creates a safety hazard to recreational floaters. So far this summer four different groups have come by while I'm on my evening fly fishing session asking me how far to the take-out. Basically people are so late that they have 20 minutes to go 2 miles. I see the inevitable of some cheap little intertube coming in contact with one of the many hidden new features barely under the surface.
I want some advice on how to file a complaint with the right department. I looked up different options under the ecology department but I am not conviced any actions will be done. This is a government agency responsible for this and they need to be held accountable, especially considering a private landowner would face criminal prosecution and/or a fine.
