Ok, what I really don't understand is our President's latest approval ratings.

Apparently, they are way down. Way, way down. As in, people think he's not doing a good job and just sucks, kinda way down.

How do you get such approval ratings from the very same peole who VOTED for you?????
According to the latest scientific research parker... brainwashing has a time limit on it's effectiveness! The Kool-Aid is apparently wearing off!

Todd,

Wow you call that a source. It does not even show the methodology. Well it least it does not come from Michael Moore.com. How does it account for people like me that live in one state and pay their taxes from another(Nevada). Which is real common and why Nevada would skew along with Fedreal taxes collected from gambling ?

"The Associated Press, using data supplied by the US Census Bureau, found that the highest divorce rates are to be found in the Bible Belt."

Prove that they where republicans or Christians per your inference. Again awesome source the AP. Go check out the data source and see how they collected the data then come back and we can talk.

You probably didn't know this king... but the AP is the MAIN wire source for nearly ALL of the major news networks... including FOX.

I know, I know... It's gotta be NewsMax, Drudge, World Net Daily etc... right? ;\)

It won't matter...

You didn't like the information, now you don't like the compiling source, and if you were to go and find the primary sources, so long as they don't support your position, you'll have a problem with them then, as well.

The fact of the matter is that the "red" states suck up more tax dollars per tax dollar contributed, they produce more divorces per marriage, and they produce more unwed teenagers per pregnancy...

And the red states are overwhelmingly members of the "no taxes" cabal, and the "moral majority"...

If "Jesusland" decided to make a paradise without the coasts, they'd be up to their ears in their illegitimate children, single parent families, and no more welfare dollars to feed their entitlements...not to mention the billions in farm subsidies, which means they wouldn't be able to feed themselves, either.

Fish on...

Todd

4Salt,

Independant and unbiased research shows that the popular media gets the facts wrong a majority of the time. As a person that deals day in and day out with regression analysis and statistics I can generally skew any data set you give me to fit my point of view. As in Todds post about divorce and teen pregnancy.
You cannot tell who was divorced and how many times they where divorced. It is a fact that rural women have children at a much younger age the urban women. It did not say if they where married or not as Todds psot skew towards imorality.

Todd,

That position is about as intelectually dishonest as they come. BTW If you really understood farm subsidies any more than you do the rest of the drivel you post you would know they are there so your food costs less today as a % of your income than it did before subsidies where instituted. I find it hard to imagine that city and subdivision inhabitants could feed themselves for a week with out farmers and grocery stores..

There goes TK again with his stream of Type II errors of logic and informal material fallacies. Anything to see if he can still bug people here. See, Parker, he almost had you hooked for a minute there.

And TK, we understand that the regression analyses that you're so able to skew whichever direction you wish are limited to indicating correlation, and not proof of direct cause and effect. But thanks; it's been entertaining. Where do you do your regular act? Fall City? Thought so.

And Sol, thanks for maintaining a serious sense of decorum in this thread!

Sincerely,

Salmo g.

SG,

Someone posts source like ablog and the AP and you walk right over that and accuse me of type II errors? The only number 2 here is in what you are typing. I thought you where better than piling on the old dog pile? BTW, it's not hard to bug libs just challenge what they say and make them defend it bugs them.

Would it be possible to get this thread moved to the appropriate forum?

Elvis don't believe in anything. Period. \:D
When you post a source, even as I did (Taxfoundation.org), a conservative group, it's just deny, and then tell everyone how much more he knows about the topic (whatever it may be) than everyone else on the board.
As a point of reference, both links I posted have methodology, and sources listed, with nationmaster being fairly complete in it's description of methodology.
Just in case you were planning on 'dissecting' the methodology to discern the 'obvious' flaws that are no doubt present, seeing as the conclusion does not fit your 'world view;.
Any of that sound vaguely familiar Elvis? \:D

The dark side is taking over here............ :p

TK; In answer to your question posed earlier:

''Can you substantiate that ? I would like to see where you get that info.''

You should know exacxtly where to find that sort of information, you're getting as bad as RB. Next you'll ask me to do your homework for ya !! ;\)
Sandbagging on us now aren't ya? \:D

Kinda nice to have some of the regular's involved in a political discussion for a change but this one probably should be on the dark side.

I'll still pipe up though \:D .

Most of the Country's wealth is concentrated on the coasts. Since we have a progressive tax scale it stands to reason that more taxes will be collected along the coasts and distributed to middle America. Just a demographic fact.

During the Democratic primary the Gov. said she would not raise the gas tax without a popular vote. Her opponent, Ron Sims, said he would raise the gas tax to support this very transportation plan. The D's chose Gregiore and now want to argue that this is a great idea. I have no doubt that Ron Sims is the most powerful D in the State and King Co. is our new Capitol! The Tacoma Narrows Bridge not being funded is a perfect example. We wouldn't want to fund something the people actually expect to be built. That would set a bad example for the rest of the state.

I am against this tax for one simple reason. It is an open check to do something. We have no idea what this something is or how much it will cost but at least it's something. This tax will raise 8.6 billion over 16 years. Anybody really believe that 16 years from now we will have a new Alaska Way Viaduct and a new 520 bridge. Does anybody even remember the last gas tax increase that was ALREADY supposed to fix all of our transportation problems. Can anybody say SoundTransit??? I believe 8.6 billion buys you a lot of Union workers standing around holding signs at premium wages screwing up traffic. Of course there will be some money left over for shiny new empty trains.

I'm conflicted about the gas tax. On one hand I'd like to see a hefty gas tax imposed to fund a really efffective modern transportation system. But since that kind of system continues to be politically untenable, I tend to favor minimal transportation system funding in hopes of achieving gridlock sooner, rather than later, thereby bringing growth to a screeching halt, and giving citizens and politicians both an opportunity to contemplate the foolishness of trying to tweak the status quo, even though transportation engineers and experts know it won't get us from point A to point B.

Sincerely,

Salmo g.

Geeze Todd.....

I'm still shocked at the low rates for teen pregnancy in this state.....In my world it's every other case I go on....

I'd be curious as to what the stats are for un-wed mothers on state welfare.......

Since I'm too lazy to look it up for myself, I'll just continue to wonder....

Let me explain that last one.....how much of our "blue state" taxes go to support DSHS? As opposed to those, how did Howard Dean put it " White christian, monolithic reublican party states?"

Work it, TK..........work it.

First, ask for a source.

Then, scoff at the one provided. Snivel about methodology if necessary.

Next, wave the BS flag while providing no sources of your own.

Finally, tell us how much you read and top it all off by saying we "clearly have no understanding of__________" (fill in appropriate topic)

Good stuff, man.
