Hammer24, can you believe that crowd??? I've never seen so many people there on Labor Day weekend. I thought, man, have these people been reading this board? Then, I remembered, every year after the Everett Herald does there yearly spout off on the Samish, the crowds show up in force for about a week and a half, then it goes back down to normal. This year, their article was a little early, so, the huge crowds. If you ever run out of eggs again, look for the guy with the loomis back pack, that's me. Or pm me and get my number, I always have two containers with me.

Freakin'...where the heck were you fishing on Friday?? Definately in a bad hole, or playing poker.

Addicted,

Thanks, I'll find you.
The Bellingham Herald just did a big spread too. Wow. I thought after the fact of walking up to the piling factory and getting skeens of eggs from the snaggers, um... jig guys, as they probably just toss them anyway. Could be a good supply avenue.

I hope you're right on the crowd thing, keep me posted please, I drive down from Blaine. Hope to get down a few more times in the next two weeks.

Thanks a ton.

Heard it was slow Monday. Holes probably cleaned out from the weekend? Hopefully the holes fill up again, I'm hoping to go Thursday. Anybody see it today?

yep, post to follow. Got some pics. Not as many fish, but without all the people (hardly any in the middle stretch) first two holes, nothing, went to a third hole, 2 fish in 5 casts.

I landed 2 kings(19 and 10) but it took me 8 hours. very slow morning and didnt pick up until around 11:30. Snaggers by the trees made out like bandits. Saw a #32 caught on yarn and smelly jelly. beautiful fish.

'freakin,
Have to form some stem walls in the am, but I think the tides are about mid day low? Is that right? Might get to pull off for a long lunch. Buddy want to take the boat out and flyfish for silvers in the pm, but I may be bow hunting in the pm, so I'll have to play it by ear....Ahhh, choices, choices....I love it outside.

Buddy says fish everywhere, all the way up to Thomas bridge. 5 for him since Monday. Same for the guy he had fishing with him. No shortage of dark ones I'm told.

Probably pouring rain in the morning, (is now) perfect tides though.

I am planning on fishing the low tide Saturday morning. But I am wondering if it is possible to fish it at other times. If so, what works when the water is high?

How do you use the spinners on the Samish? I've been out several times with spinners at high tide and can't get anything. I went out today and saw probably 20 fish jump but nobody out there (probably 10 people) even had a bite. I even found a spot where I could cast right down the channel, reel in it the whole way and still nothing.

Am I missing something? I've used Blue Foxes, size 4 and 5, and all sorts of colors. I'm just frustrated is all.

Addicted,

Are you going in the morning? (Friday)
I'll most likely be at the tree hole.
Couple buddies limited this morning (again) and am meeting them there tomorrow early.

I'm the guy in the red baseball hat.

Addicted,

Sorry, but didn't see your message until I got home, but I was there. Ended up fishing one down from the tree hole. Had some fun, lots of fish. Took home nice and brights. Going again in the am. Same four hole stretch most likely, pending how crowded. I'll keep an eye out for ya.

Fishing the Samish can be frustrating. I was there this morning, and I tried drifting eggs, and eggs under a float, nothing in six hours. For a while I had a pool to my self that had 2-3 fish swimming in it, and they weren't interested in my eggs. I am new to salmon fishing, so I talked with the guys who were catching fish, they were all snaggers. One guy said over his year he had caught atleast 400 fish in Samish, and only 50 of those were hooked in the mouth. It is really frustrating as a beginer to go home with out any bites, while the snaggers are hookin into a lot fish.
