I've landed 7 brats and 2 natives in 4 trips wading a small river where I only saw 2 other anglers over the 4 trips. Covered 2 to 4 miles of river each day. This is less than an hour from Seattle. So I say yes - you'll probably never see the name of this river featured in an article. You show somebody where to park and hike in half a mile to a great drift that's pretty much the only way they're going to find it - You know they'll show up fishing "your" drift with their neighbor and brother-in-law the next weekend - so you just don't tell him where you're catching your fish. Productive water with no people close to home is something you protect.

I think there are still a few "zipper" rivers around, A buddy of mine tells me about a great summer-run river he fishes alot every July and August and he has never seen anyone there that he hasn't invited to go along with him, unfortunately ;\) I'm stuck in Ak. and can't fish it with him.

Like you mentioned there are probably not many zippers, but the more you talk about it and broadcast your fishing prowness on a specific river over the internet, it will bring more people to it. Pretty obvious really

No such thing as a "zipper river" If I were trailrat77, I would say the salmon and queets were my zippers! And no one is allowed to fish them!

technically there's no such thing as a zipper river in washington for salmon, as it's illegal to fish for them anywhere that you're not explicitly allowed to

trout though, that's another story ;\)

ABSOULUTLY! As unbelieveable as it may seem in this day and age there are little streams in the remote coastal regions of BC with runs of stealhead that have never seen mankind. \:\)

Beyond that, even the popular rivers around here have zipper times, if people treat them that way. ;\)
