Anyone try this new style rod-holder yet? Its pretty new on the market, I think its a great idea, you can snap that rod out even with a big fish pulling down hard ... Heres a link for ya......http://www.folbe.com/ \:D

My dad and I were able to score a couple of free ones and they have performed great. We have used them for just steelhead so far and they are much more convienent than the normal rod holder. It's easier to get a good hook set in as all you have to do is pull up. I would recommend them.

I scored a free pair too as a fishing buddy from this board works with the guy who makes them. (tell Art I say Hi)

I think they are a great design, perfect for plugging and trolling. They lock your rod into place so that no fish could pull the rod out, they would literally have to break whatever the holder is mounted to off for you to lose your rod. The release is easy to use, once unlocked you can raise your rod right out of the locked holder. It is also designed so that you can quickly release your rod while it is pumping hard from a big king on the other end.

I havent personally tested them yet because I am between salt boats, but I have them in a safe place and they will go on my next boat.

Thanks for starting this post. I mold these Rod holders for Folbe. Bill is a great guy and has invested basically his life’s savings into this project and it’s patents. He is an extremely hardworking man that insists on these rod holders being as good as possible and to produce them here in the USA. If you are considering buying a set please PM me and I will send you a pair with Bill’s permission. I have hoped for a long time someone would mention them here because I did not feel right about starting a thread myself as I do profit from their sales. There was just a little article about them in Salmon and Steelhead journal along with an article written by a guy named Bob Ball about fishing Pink worms for Steelhead. There may be some pics of a few other familiar faces from this board in this awesome new mag as well. Bob I would be glad to send you samples too and maybe a few others that would be willing to return some creative criticism that may help to improve the product.

Bob if you feel I am taking advantage of your board please take my apoligies and delete this. I am very exited to see it here after spending a couple of years working on it.

Hey Skyguy did you and Hairball really go 1 for 7 this weekend or is he BSing again.

Art, I don't think we have met, but I've known Bill & Family for a long time. Back in the day we did alot of cross-country hiking/fishing in the Cascades, as well as the NW salt-water fishing for salmon and butt's. Bill is as good as it gets as a person and a T&D Maker, as a golfer, well, he needs some help... :p As a hard-core DB fisherman I'm looking forward to nailing some Feb-March chrome on the plug rods, and later those slam-dancing Sol duc / Hoh Springers will put a real test on the rod-holder/rod/fisherman. If you can talk TRBO into giving them a shot in Alaska this summer that should get everyone on to them. Tell Bill..Brad sez "I really didn't mean to break your foot", hey, we were both riding Montesa's and those spanish bikes don't have great brakes.... ...later C/22

It seems that all that have met Bill feel the same way about him. If you need any help in FEB or March or this spring let me know and maybe I can drag his butt over to see ya. I could use some schooling on pen rivers but I just don't know anyone that fishes them and with my schedule it is hard to book with a reputable guide for fear I would have to cancel at the last minute.
