There is no hatchery steelhead program on the skok, and the natives ( tribe) can be pretty touchy. Release the fish if you ctach em' and take pictures to prove your succcess. I would be suprised to see if you caught one.

The state dumped about 50,000 smolt into the river in 2003. I think the vance creek hatchery is still kickin out some fish. Jan and feb is the time in here, I would stay out of the river with the sled. However you could launch a db at vance creek and float down from there.

Correct according to multiple sources on the river state, tribal and fisherman who don't need to aestheticly touch up a web site or supposed fisheries program. I repeat there are no hatchery steelies that make it back to the skok, I would love to see someone prove me wrong.

There are hatchery fish that return to the Skok although due to very low returns last year was the last year for the hatchery steelhead program on this river. You may pick one up. I have a friend who catches a few every year on the Skok (I live just a couple of miles away from it and he lives right on it ) or you may tie into a nice searun bull trout they are in there in small numbers also.
