While me and my fishing/hunting partner were out in the boat killing trout, smoking cigars, and corrupting my 9 year old nephew we started talking about a co-worker, Ray. Ray is a reservist who was called up and is now serving in Iraq.

While we were enjoying our time on the water we realized the sacrifices Ray is making and gave thanks to him and all the other soldiers, airmen, and sailors serving in Iraq, Afghanistan, and everywhere else in the world.

When we got home, Scott, my buddy, put together a care package and sent Ray a handful of cigars. I’m sure he will enjoy them.

Don’t forget, while we are out enjoying life and doing a little fishing, there are men and women risking life and limb for our liberties. Regardless what your opinion is of the war, they need our support. Call or contact your local VFW or other liaison and send a letter or care package. They need to know that we care!!!!

my boy is in Bagdad, and is getting Cuban cigars for three bucks each. when he told me that i new that there was one thing good over there.

Good thing to keep in mind......

This is a unique time for the citizen soldiers of our country. They have not experienced this magnitude of deployments in a very long time, if ever. I take my hat off to those men and women, as well as those of you who have taken time to mention them on this and other discussion boards. Please don't forget them once they are home either. During peacetime operations, the National Guard and Reserves perform many local operations to protect and improve the states they live and serve in.
