Recreational Fishing Alliance

Its time I put some money into an organization that supports MY special interests, sport fishing. Its time for everyone to pull out thier wallets and do the same.

Thanks to AuntyM for bring it to my attention, and to Dave Vedder for his work with the organization.

Let’s keep momentum on this one.

I joined the RFA during the Makah debacle.

I donated $100 at the Sportmans show in Monroe! Probably double it in 2006. Worth while cause! I think I had a shot at a four wheeler too?
This is really a chance to "put up or shut up". Grandpa, others, can we put together an auction of surplus fishing gear (maybe even online) and donate ALL proceeds to the RFA? Just a thought. We need to get creative here.

Joined last year. Pretty good news publication they put out but I wish there was more to say about our state though. With a stronger membership count it will only get better!

What's this about a publication? I sent in money last year and haven't ever heard another word. In fact it took about 5 months for the check to clear my bank. I also never got the impression I was joining anything but that I was contributing to support a cause. Did I miss something?

I am a member of RFA, and I also donate to

The Washington Sportfishing PAC

the $$ they receive are used to fight "our" local battles in Olympia.

What is the relationship (if any) between the RFA and WA Sportfishing PAC? Also, the PAC looks like the right cause as that's been my criticism of the RFA is that they're national and not local.
The website for the PAC is pathetic. I wish I were more literate at website design, I'd volunteer to help. Anyone out there good at website design?
Are either of these organizations tax deductable 501C3's?

The question about doing on online auction? Is anyone into that? Bob, is there a way to make this work?

I know, lots of questions, sorry, but I'm ready to help out and also throw a little money at the problem......

"What is the relationship (if any) between the RFA and WA Sportfishing PAC? "

The RFA-WA State Board has contracted with the PAC for lobbying services in Olympia and elsewhere.

"Also, the PAC looks like the right cause as that's been my criticism of the RFA is that they're national and not local."

RFA is a national organization, with local chapters. We just got the Washington chapter up and running last year, so it's on the upswing as we speak. The Washington Chapter has been fairly active locally since its inception, and will continue to get more and more active.

"Are either of these organizations tax deductable 501C3's?"

I'm pretty sure they're not...some of the lobbying activities that they do are not allowable under 501(c)(3) rules...

Here is a spot to keep up on current events with the RFA-WA...unfortunately you have to register with the forum to read it, but like all the rest, it's quick and free to do so.

We joined at a local sportsmens show. Talked to them for a while and found that these people are the kind of people we need our money backing

THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT CAUSE AND ANYONE READING THIS WHO HAS NOT JOINED SHOULD JOIN AT THEIR VERY NEXT CHANCE. THIS IS NOT ONLY FOR THE SEASONS AND LIMITS RIGHT NOW, THIS DETERMINES THE FUTURE OF OUR SPORT! PLEASE JOIN AND HELP NOT ONLY YOURSELF, BUT EVERY OTHER FISHERMEN IN WASHINGTON.

To those of you who have already joined, it's good to see that we aren't the only ones who want to fight for our fishing rights \:\)
