Pretty dead. I fished Beals,Robinson and Redondo Saturday and Sunday.Only had a couple bites and only saw one shaker landed. And there are tons of weeds in the area worst I can remember in many many years of fishing area 11.

The ramp at Redondo sucks. With no breakwater (where did it go???) The north wind rollers heave the dock up and down several feet. I left without unloading while another guy contemplated his half flooded boat positioned on his trailer at a 30 degree angle.

The ramp at Redondo has always been that way. Last year some genius came up with that so called breakwater which for the most part was largely ineffective except for winds straight in from the west and totaly screwing up the pier fishing for a lot of landlocked fishermen. Used to have only the north dock. They should have made the south float longer also. Couple of weeks ago I came in after of day of fishing for no fish and had to wait for one of those 30' long polynesian war canoe things they do down there and that was a pain. Probly not as bad as the guy with the boat full of water that you described though.

Fished Dolphin tonight....verrrry slow. We fished from 5 till dark with only one takedown. Saw one boat with a small silver on a stringer and that was it. Hope the fish come in this year

The area 11 fish have still been a little hit and miss. Some are getting kings, some are getting silvers, or some are getting pinks. Things should start picking up any time now.

With the big tide swings what do the fish do? Hunker down on the bottom or try to find some current breaks behind points?

I don't know what the fish do exactly. They may hide behind points. I do know that you will want to troll with the tide.

Have to agree with Carl, still hit and miss, while one day you may get into a few fish and the next day zilch. With this being said I have noticed that the kings caught in MA11 this year are a little larger than last year.

Fished from 5 til 9 this morning. A ton of bait in front of Gig Harbor and plenty of boats but only saw one fish hooked that the guy lost in his motor. Looked like a nice fish too. We had a lot of smaller taps but it may have been just running through the thick bait and it hitting our lines. A couple times we popped off the DR's but not sure if we had any decent hits or not. Still pretty slow but I'm going to fish the morning tide again tomorrow. If nothing else I can bring a bait rig out and fill my freezer with herring!

Fished Gig Harbor again this morning. What a difference a day makes! Hooked 4 fish this morning, boated and bonked two and released a small jack. One was a 4 lb. coho that won't make it past dinner tonight, the other was a 9 lb. chinook and a nice surprise. The third was a real nice coho that had to be pushing 10 lbs. that we lost close to the boat. I didn't expect to see such a large coho this early down here. Three other real strong takedowns that didn't stick but all that made for an exciting 3 hours of fishing. All our fish/hits were no deeper than 40 feet down in no deeper than 80 feet of water. Lots of bait and we just kept working it. We fished GSB's and Yellow/Glow hootchies without the herring kicker strip trying to avoid shakers.

Fished three tree with no fish. (Wed. Fri.)
Didn't see many on the finder. Got into one bait ball (Wed.) with a couple fish on the screen, no deal. And yes, TONS of weeds.
The Redondo "Break-Water" is in the Des Moines Marina at the East side of the parking lot. (Where the little Quartermaster store used to be) It was removed due to the mooring anchors not being stable (or moving or something) It is not back yet (It didn't do much good as I view it) because --somewhat ironically- they have to get a new permit for "new" mooring anchors. Apparently the old permit and anchors aren't "sufficient".....
So, it was power washed and set in the parking lot of the marina. That's the story as my dad tells me. It might be slightly different but he's usally on the mark with area 11 scuttlebutt.
