I'm sure I'm going to get roasted so I will start out with "It's a friends boat".

My friend just got a Smokercraft (used) and took it to a lake. On his maiden launch he unstrapped the boat and it fell off the trailer.... DOOH!

He damaged the bottom just forward of the transom and it crushed it like a tin can. Some rivets tore and it leaks. He would like to know if there is a local reputable repair shop for that damage in the south sound area.

Thanks in advance and I won't let the mud stick.

You sold me. I looked at their "welded" boat some time back (I think I mentioned it once to you) and after realizing .100" isn't quite enough, now I am really scared. Just think if he hit a rock...sunk boat! I guess I will just have to save for the entire 3 years for my sled. As for a reputable repair shop...how about Tacoma Metals. They pay good money for aluminum. Then take that to Custom Weld as a down payment.

PS. I'm gonna hit the "local" river again. I think Monday monring. I'll call you.

Three-rivers wouldn't do any welding on my riveted boat. If you can get someone to do it that would be best - please post what you find.

I did patch mine and it's been holding well all summer. I used the aluminum putty stick from West Marine on the outside (it's much like JB-Weld) and silicon caulking on the inside that's specially formulated for aluminum (RV skins and the like). Works well but I'd much prefer a weld.
