I went Sunday... in the middle of the day... from 2-5:30... I'm speechless. I have never caught so many kings in my life. What a beautiful river. What an amazing run.

I can't believe it... I mean just standing there waist deep and seeing the wakes of entire schools coming up, looking like they're going to knock over a few of the fishermen.

Wow

It's a diversion. Don't believe it.

I don't know what part of the river you were on dude, but that's not what I seen. I was there all Sat. morning before heading to the Cow, and I found a few pools with 4-6 fish each with 4-20 fishermen trying to snag one up. They were spooked and laying on the bottom, not biting. I hiked 3/4 mile up river trying to get some peace and the fish are few from what I seen. One 5 lb jack that was already yellow was landed before I left up river and I seen only 1 (that's one as in #1) nice chromer from down river out of 150+ people.

Got good glasses. I'm telling you there's no fish here. You all should head somewhere else. Like the Puyallup or the Cowlitz or North to the Snohomish. There's no fish here. Too many people, no fish, nope, none. They aren't showing this year. Go someplace else.

Do all you guys go home after keeping one? I was told you must go home after keeping one and absolutely no c/r after keeping the first one.
I hope the game warden is out there, I'm sure 90% of the fish caught there are snagged, isn't that illegal?

"i'm sure 90% of the fish caught there were snagged" Thats a load of crap. Yes the Skok has its fair share of snaggers but most of the people I have fished next to their are only keeping fair hooked fish. I have been down there pretty much everyday. If you dont see hardly any fish then go somewhere else on the river. They are there in the hundreds everyday in at least 1 hole. I was the one who got the 27# hen. Fair hooked in the mouth NOT snagged.

Theres millions of fish the skok! chrome bright and some fish pushing 30 pounds easy. Are you sure you were fishing the skok? lots of friendly people there too. never seen so many snagged fish released in my life. 30 to 50 fish a day.

You can be in in out of there in twenty minutes if you try to actually catch one. Say like use some good eggs intead of yarn or corkies. 8# test 20 inch leader and a split shot. youll be good to go. I sure would like to plunk that corner hole \:D

P.s they hit flash and glo spinners in the lower tidal water too.

Fished this morning, and faired about the same as the last three times. SMOKIN! But that isn't the primary reason for this post. As I was packing it up for the day I noticed three of the treble hook folks snagging across the river, over about a ten foot bank. I watched them nail about 10 fish and loose every one because apperently they had forgotten the net. Fish after fish was getting ripped a new one. However, almost as if on cue one of the fellas went ass over tea kettle down the bank and in to the river. Needless to say, my mood lightened considerably after that. Damn I wish I would have had the camera! :p

Sounds like a real hoot. Watching 30-50 fish get snagged and released each day by a bunch of very nice folks just sounds so sporting.
I'm not one to look down on folks for their desire to catch fish but that just sounds disgusting.
I'm just glad you folks have that opportunity available to you so that we aren't sharing the same water.
Not really an attack on anyone here but even if I was to fish up or downstream of the crowd and get my fish legally it would still make me sick to witness that kind of *friendly* fishing crowd.
And yes, I do know these are fish are there to be *harvested*. \:\(

Was at the Skok for the first time today with 3 other friends. Whats the deal with the native nets still out after 12pm? My buddy said they are limited to stay til' 12pm on Wed?

Witnessed my buddy "fair hook" 3 chrome kings, MAN I didn't know those kings could jump sooo high like Steelhead, at least twice up to 3 feet!

Where we were, It wasn't as bad as the pics from the last post. Like he said, there are untouched pools with dozens of unspooked kings, and you will hook in. Unfortunately for me, zero.

I am now in the market for a Lamiglas and baitcaster after today...

Sorry, hard to hear sarcasm on the screen. My bad.
With some of the previous topics on snagging/flossing and trying to split the hairs between the two it just *sounds* to me.......
Off to greener pastures, it's that time of year when salmon are entering the rivers and this sort of thing is to be *expected*.
