well...about time to head north on my annual spawning, I mean fishing, run.
The State says that pinks and cohos "were" entering the rivers in good numbers, however, with all the recent rain the fishing has dropped way off. Guess the fish have it easy and can just cruise right on by when the water is high.
Anybody got any tips for those wiley coho in tea colored high water with a no bait restriction?

Jack-- Our house guide says that the #4's and 5's Mepps spinners with the silver body and rainbow blade are about the most consistant producer for the Coho. The river is back in pretty good shape and more fish are staging so you might hit it perfect. Don't forget to try the mouth if the fish are not in the river thick yet, the incoming tide can be great for the fish coming in on each wave. Also, grab a john boat and try the Ankau Lagoon about the Ankau bridge. The fish move into that area first and it can be amazing. Also, we have updated our web site so you can go in and get the latest info and maps. Do a little clicking on the different links. http://www.glacierbearlodge.com/

thx BigFin. We are heading to your lodge beginning 9/2 under the "Gallant" party. Always a pleasure to come back.
Thx for the lure tip, we have had various luck and lots of fun with tiger pattern mepps. But when that water runs really high those coho cruise on by...think they bite more readily when water low and they are nervous, stressed and aggressive!
Do you rent john boats?...if so let me know cost. Or is it better to do the leonards landing Lunds and mix in a bit of salt water action?
See you soon.

Pink worm or hoochie spinner. Slow retrieve with a twitching action.
Trust me it will produce.
Twitching jigs with a worm or hoochie in the big slow pools will kill em as well.

Jack-- We have both drift boats and John boats. Talk to Sharesse about the lagoon area if the river is slow. I just sent up a bunch of new oars and seat cushions so I know she is sending people to the Lagoon. She knows all the places and if she is not sure she will get you to Michell how knows the area like the back of her hand, yes her and she is a good fisherman or woman is more proper! Tell her you talked to Rick. Wish I was going to be there at the same time, it will be a blast.
