In 18 years at boeing I have been shuffeled from auburn to everret, everret to renton and renton to fredrickson back to auburn then back to renton.I was forced to work 2nd and 3rd shift with one days notice all the while watching them tear down the renton plant right around us while they off loaded our work to oversea's cheap labor countries.Honestly,I hate working there and can't wait to retire with my well deserved pension that I will strike for...as long as it takes.

Is this a joke post???
80% of the work is done by 20% of the work force. The rest are coffee cup holders.
& yes a company must make a profit to stay alive.

Pensions aint the answer !

Our livelihood depends on selling airplanes for a profit. Ever heard of 15-7&7 !!

Your retirement depends on you!!!! Not those just rehired from layoff !!!

Your retirement depends on you!!! Not those who may or may not be hired 10 or 20 years from now !!!!

The Company is doing well right now. I hope you get a 2.5, 2.5 and 3.0 wage increase that I feel you deserve. I hope you get the 20 days of EIP that only you earn for the rest of us!!! I hope you get a $6000.00 bonus that can be rolled into VIP for $9000.00. At 18 years of employment (and in good standing with the IAM having walked the line in ’89 and ’95) and at 39 years of age I DO NOT hope you get a dime in pensions!

To expect the Co. to agree to fixed costs 10, 20 or even 30 years from now to ex employees who have spent the past 20 years of retirement fishing and NOT adding value to the airplanes rolling out the door is downright foolish (even downright evil if your still on the payroll)!!! Unless, of course your 59 and just one contract away from retirement then it makes perfect sense! If your 30, fresh from layoff, trying to raise a family, and think the IAM is going to provide/negotiate your retirement and job security for you than your an idiot. This fight from the IAM is not about the working class of America. It's about the greed of the 80% of the membership that has made a good living and is nearing retirement!!! It's about the 80% of members who are just now realizing that their days of earning a wage are nearing an end so they want those of us who still earn a wage to support their retirement. I walked the, “Held the line in ‘89” and the “stayed alive in ’95” and pensions where never once mentioned!!!!!!!!!!!

Please explain to my why I should show up every day to have 60% of my value go to rolling an airplane out the door and 40% going to those retired and fishing Monday thru Friday????????

Pensions-The big IAM lie!!!

Still my livelihood depends in all of you building airplanes for a profit despite the 15-7&7 dream (my nightmare)! I wish you well and must support you!!!

Pretty damn creepy around here. They turned the lights off! Believe me when I say no airplane is being worked on. Not too sure how long I can find "meaningful work." At least the supply chain, worldwide, is all messed up so maybe I can milk it for a while.

I hope to see you all soon with a fistful of cash! Like I said in my previous post if the IAM wants to die on the pension hill then-well-death is what we will get!

Sorry for the rant! These airplanes are very important to me as I know they are to those of you who build them. What we do is not only important to America but is also very important to the World. Make no mistake that Al Qaeda chose 767’s for a reason! We in these two factories located on Puget Sound have changed the world! The 747 changed the world for the better and we build them here!!! I was there the morning of 9/11. Believe me there is nobody more pissed about that day then those who built that airplane to bring people and cultures together just to watch it turned into a weapon of mass destruction and HATE. It still pisses me off! Screw them. Kill them all!!! I want to bury Airbus! I want to bury all the sons a b!tches who think multiculturism is bad. I want to bury all the sons a b!tches who think AMERICA can’t compete! I want to bury all of the sons a b!tches who hate those not like themselves and live in fear! Only the workers of Puget Sound can build these planes. Give us the chance to do so!

Working Together!

Never mind......
I see linestretcher made my point for me :p !

I hired into Plant II and watched it close operations one year later in '88. I've worked in Seattle, Everett, Aub, Ev, Ev spares, layoff, Ev, Aub, Muck, Aub and now Everett!

One reason sales are up this year is that we are selling the airplanes cheaper than ever before. In order to maintain current profit margins we need to reduce the cost to build them 15% this year, 7% next year and 7% the following year. Most of these cost reductions are associated with the moving lines (737 is online and 777 is in work), reduced inventory holding costs and quicker turn times (ie. 3 days to build a plane rather than 30 days). The only cost enitiative I am aware of that concerns payroll is having one machinist run up to four machines at a time but I suspect that will be dropped by the final contract.

"Mealy said he voted against the contract because of provisions that would allow Boeing to assign workers to operate more than one machine at a time. Boeing said this change to "simultaneous machining" wouldn't result in any layoffs, but Mealy said he believes it would inevitably mean his job would be eliminated."

Every machine shop in the country has been doing this for years. They've had to so they can compete...

Link

"Striker Dale Burt, a 777 worker from Mount Vernon, said the $3,000 signing bonus Boeing offered in the contract's first year wouldn't have covered the increased costs he would have faced under the new health insurance plans."

I can easily say that just about every worker in the country has had to pay higher insurance premiums over the last few years.

And thats a prime example of why workers need to take a stand or soon they will be paying all there health care costs. Im glad too see the machinists take a stand on this.

Boodbuster, here it is in a nut shell. We are walking the line for the same old machinist that walked it for us and for the future machinist that will walk it for us when we get old.Take a close look at the upper managments retirement package then you will see why we are so pissed.I'm sure you will understand this when your still working at 55 and I'm fishing with my pension.

Linestretcher,

Point taken and understood! I commend you and the rest of the IAM for drawing this line. If successful it will raise the bar for me also.

My point in a nutshell (and then I'll shut up) is that it is a very risky line. The Co.'s books and on hand cash is very healthy right now. I feel all parties are better off sharing that current wealth. Like I said above there is no gaurentee that the day you retire is not the same day the Co. defaults on your pension plan. That is exactly what happened at United and could soon happen at Delta and US air. I would hate to see it happen at Boeing so that none of us can enjoy our pensions.

Piece! And best of luck to you and your brothers and sisters! I hope to see you soon but, unfortunatly, I expect this one to go on a while, for as important as this is to you I get the feeling it is more important to the Co. \:\(
