No disrespect SK, but I would have to agree with OPfisher and others.... nice teener, but that smoker ain't no 20. I've laid eyes (and hands!) on plenty of big silvers over the past 32 years. They need some serious shoulders and a big a$$ wrist to hit the 20 mark. Having just brought my first one over the gunnel this fall, I feel qualified to make that assertion with confidence. You're young, keep at it... I'm sure you will eventually prevail. When you finally do land that 20-plus monster, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

Hey Doc,

Awhile back on another thread, you invited everyone to guess your avatar silver's true weight. Did you ever reveal it or did I miss it? Just curious, it's a dandy.

Eric, you missed it a while back, but here it is again

That big hooknose tipped the scale at mere ounces shy of 20 pounds. A coho of that caliber is truly the fish of a lifetime. I've caught hundreds of silvers over the years, but this one was in a class of its own. I had to pause momentarily to pick my lower jaw up off the deck when I closed the bag on that fish.

Congratulations to Eric for the first guess that was right on the money! Easy E was right in there, too. Good eye you guys!

I'll go with Doc. True 20-pound silvers are rare. The one below is my biggest this year. Looks big, but it's only 15 pounds. It's easy to pencil pencil in a couple more pounds when looking a picture.

I just noticed the chew in my front pocket. My wife thinks I quit. Guess I better be more carefull. ;\)

Weedhopper: I'm 6-5" and 240, too. I'll go with 16 pounds on your avatar pic.

Crikey Sol, did you scrape that nasty green looking boot off of the spawning beds, or what? Did you have to fight off the eagles for that beauty? I see you scraped the fungus off for the photo. ;\)

Green. The fish is green.

Now, I have seen it all....

Poor lighting. \:D

As dark as it was, it cut redder than the chrome hens.

How did you and Squatch do on the Lewis yesterday?

Sol,

I'm in. I'll drop you a line, and we'll hook something up.

Had a tough go yesterday. Could only get one nook to bite on eggs all day! Ugh. The lack of fresh sea chickens killed us.

Plan B had us pickin up 4 nice nooks up on Kwikies and 1 coho for the clients.

After the trip was over, we went back out and whacked 2 nice cohos to end the evening (on eggs).

My gallon jar of eggs are curing up quite nicely, thank you! ;\)

There is a ton of not-really-wanting-to-bite B Run cohos in the NFL and a very few nooks. I do mean a ton of cohos. Unreal how many cohos were in the Swirl.

Your prize?? Hmm.... Well... I don't even know how much that fish weighed.... caught it, snapped some pics, and let her go... didn't get out the leader to measure her up.... Oh well, I don't care... I was just wondering how big everyone thought that one was... it was a fun one for sure! \:D
