Sol backed into Dave's truck ... and he's still alive??? You know he's a fisher, because he's also a liar!

You might just be better off at home for this one Keith. Sol was stopin by my place on his way out ta load up with more FIRE power. It could get real ugly on the river. I'm just hopin the folks that aren't involved in the SRC don't get hurt.

No deaths, or even serious injuries (except to Vedder's Lamiglas pullover...ouch!)...fishing conditions were tough, with the low, clear water, and it being very cold out.
We (Team PP) ran away with the trophy for biggest team catch...we didn't really have any competition even close for that one...but missed out on the biggest single fish to one of Pat's team members, Tom, who beat out Team PP's largest fish, caught by Sparkey, by a couple of ounces.
There were lots of pictures taken, and when everyone recovers and gets home over the next couple of days, I suspect that there will be lots to see then.
My smoker will be working double time this week!
Fish on...

Team Celebrity Report: (That was NOT our choice for a team name!)
As Todd has so graciously pointed out Team Celebrity came up a bit short in the fish landed department. But, like all good steelheaders we do have a God's plenty of excuses, and a pretty damn impressive list of accomplishments. First the excuses - In no particular order.
1. Neither Nick or I had eve fished that river.
2. Having Sol talk so much trash assured that we spent a good deal of our day as unwilling targets.
3. Nick was so hung-over/drunk he didn't truly know where he was until about 1:00 P.M. Whereas I, a more season angler was able to speak in multisyallabic words by noon. Although my first complete sentences was at 3:00 P.M. when I said something like, "Goodness gracious, some cretin has shot me and I believe I am on fire."
4. It was cold out and my fuzzy mittens wouldn't cast my Snoopy rod correctly.
5. The winning boat – Team PP looked like a slave galley. It was so big and so loaded with slack jawed yokels it should have been required to be spilt into two or three teams. No steelhead could withstand the barrage of sloppy casts, poor hook sets and inept landing skills displayed by the boat load of crackers Bob had with him. I am not at all bitter, but I consider that win to be pure, dumb, blind luck. Even a blind drunken hog finds a steelhead sometimes.
But, look at what we accomplished.
1. We outlasted all other participants at the kick off cocktail hour, and not by just a little. I believe Pat is still trying to convince his wife that it’s okay to play Metallica at 400 decibels at 1:30 A.M.
2. We definitely set off the biggest ordinance of the day, when the M-80 packed pumpkin went up several bank anglers decided to go fish elsewhere.
3. I believe the rules may change next year to outlaw flares, which will be the direct result of our team's creative use of pyrotechnics designed for safety.
4. I remain the only Snoopy Rod participant to be set on fire by a barrage of fireworks.
For our first effort I think we did well. We will be back. We are already reworking the potato cannon, modifying our balloon launcher and redesigning our pyrotechnic pumpkin. And remember, if we had landed the bites we missed plus one more we would have had six fish. Wait till next year!!!!!!!

I have to admit. A lot of things have happened to me steelheading over the years. But I've never been set on fire. You're setting the bar pretty high, Dave.

I forgot to mention the other "serious" injury...in an effort to hide under a boat seat during a barrage of bottle rockets and paint balls, Craig O. managed to burn a rather large hole right through his breathable waders on the boat heater in Team Sky's boat.
Dave, it's too bad Team Celebrity didn't hook all the hits it had, then land them all, plus one...but you still would have finished a distant second to the Champs!
Dave left out a fun story from the tourney...as we came around the corner into Crescent Bar, we spied Team Celebrity nearing the end of a half mile upstream boat drag, hauling their boat up from Ice Box back to Crescent.
Since Team PP had mucho respect both for the age and the celebrity status of Team Celebrity, we only popped off two or three potatos at 'em before anchoring up directly where they had been dragging their boat towards...and managed to boat two fish right in front of them in five minutes.
In all fairness, if they hadn't been so winded from the half hour upstream boat drag, they may have been able to either challenge the landing of the fish, or maybe even hook one themselves...but that half mile upstream walk dragging Sol's tub took too much out of them.
Sol did manage to catch his wind enough to toss an M-80 into our hole, but only after the two fish were in the box.
The M-80 was followed by pulling anchor and heading down into Ice Box, where PP Team Member Jason managed his only fish of the day...a six inch sculpin. Again in all fairness, Jason didn't add to Team PP's fish box total, as the sculpin was carefully released without being removed from the water, but he did take the only direct hits from the paintball barrage, sacrificing his Gore-Tex fishing jacket to keep the rest of Team PP safe.
The fact that he managed to take two direct hits while on his knees hiding behind the gunwale, while Parker, Bob, and I stood up straight and kept the potato gun launching (Sparkey bravely huddled behind me to avoid the barrage) and received no hits, must surely be a testimony to the pinpoint accuracy of Bob Z.'s paintball attack!!
Fish on...
Todd

Here's a link to the 2005 Snoopy Rod Classic Porn Site. I've got a movie of that paint ball attack. Somehow, I managed to film it and *not* get it. You can clearly see the pain balls come flying in all around us. Hey Todd, tell us about Lurleen and Cletus's porch you hit the night you "rolled" in to Bob's place?

The only explanation I can come up with is that the porch jumped off the house right behind the van as I was turning around...and the weight and size of my van was just a bit sturdier than the POS porch that had been previously attached to their trailer...
"I did not run into your !@#$$%#*@#(&^((&(*&...(breath)...%^%@*(&*%@ porch!!"
Oh, well...thanks to Parker and Bob for helping me break out the tools the next afternoon and rebuild the porch, and then reattach it to the trailer.
I can honestly say that the porch is much better shape now than it was before it jumped off the house and threw itself under my van.
If I were that porch, I would throw myself under a van, too.
Fish on...

Well I survived the SRC just by a smidge. I think I got hit by more paint balls than anyone else in the Classic. Our team did manage to land one that came with in inches of Team Three Rivers net. It was probably the best time I have had on a river even though I caught on fire.
The best beer of the weekend has to go to Pat Graham with his brothers home brew. I think we kept up with the favorite boats in the alcahol consumption.
