I need to tell you that nick and I have only fished together in one other derby. That was the Smith River guides derby. Eighty guides and guests over two days. We were a bit off our game and only took second place. But this time we are ready. Just to give you crackers a chance I will try to see if I can egt Nick to drink a few beers the night before. I will bet on Nick in any sort of piss hucking contest and he don't need no damn squirt gun to do it!

I also need to let you know that I only fish with Snoopy rods, so I see no disadvantage there.

I'm coming up Thursday night to see to it: Morning hangover, guarenteed, especially if Graham's Pub is open.

Yeah, I went down to Sportco yesterday and picked up two new rods...Lamiglas just came out with a Certified Pro 263 (that's two feet, two inches, rated for 6-10 pound line)...it's the "Dave Vedder/Holly Hobby" model...there's a picture of Dave on the side wearing a bonnet and drinking skim milk out of a sippy cup.

That rod cost $287, plus tax...I hear Dave gets 31 cents from each sale...glad to help you out, Dave.

It's only got two guides, so I guess it will be legal?

The other rod is a "Homer2Handed" model...a three foot spey rod, painted pink, with glitter on the plastic handle. The handle has one foot of butt below the reel, one foot of cork above the reel, and one foot of rod...this one only has one guide (the tip).

It also was pretty pricy, at $499 plus tax, but I hear Homer has to go out and chuck two totes of carcasses for each sale, so I think I might go out and pick up another one tomorrow.

So is there a spectator area where the curious can watch this craziness? If there were bleachers at Tall Timber, maybe folks would pay to watch the spud guns in action. Probably not for the p!ssing contest, tho. Maybe dress the drift boats up like Viking long boats, with sails as targets for the spud guns? This will be video taped, won't it?

Salmo, I bet if you set up a covered viewing area at TT you could sell tickets to view the mayhem...set up the BBQ, crack out the cooler, and sell hot dogs and beers while you're at it...might be some good supplemental income for an underpaid public servant!
