Just wanted to know if it is normal practice to toss yellowfin carcuses in to the Sound. I had finished duck hunting on Wwed and when I was pulliing my boat out at McCalister creek someone had dumped about 12-15 full yellowfin carcuses in the water at the ramp. They still had the processor tags on the head which each were about 40-50 lbs heads.I was going to call WDFW to find out what is up but I will try in the morning. I can't see that this is benificial for the sound.

Doesn't sound right to me, seems like putting an "EXOTIC" species of fish in the water here in any state, even dead, is asking for trouble down the line. Look at the problem with CWD.

Yellowfin are caught off of the coast regularly by folks pursuing albacore, so they aren't that exotic. While unsightly, they will provide food for the crab and other species. That area gets a lot of current, unlike Hood Canal where they were dumping chum depleting the oxygen levels.

I don't think that the sky will fall.

I've caught mackerel at up near Zittles. So no big deal IMHO, food for the crabs, they need to eat too.

JUst spoke with fisheries and they are sending down some people to investigate as he said it was dfinatly wrong to be dumping anything in that area.

Probably violates a few different state and federal laws...especially the Clean Water Act...not to mention state and municipal littering laws.

Not a good idea...especially the idea of leaving the processing tags on them...oops!

Fish on...
