i was looking at different bows to use for deer and elk. i was looking at the browning rage one. i was wondering how this bow performs and if it will be a good bow to have as my first bow. i dont want to spend a fortune but i would like to get a good bow for the money. if anyone could suggest a better bow around the same price that would be great, thanks!

There's definetly a lot to choose from on the market today. Maybe take a look at some of the bottom end Martin bows. They build nice entry level bows, are from Walla Walla, and they stand behind their products. I don't know how Golden Eagle is these days after the Bear Archery buyout but I can tell you that I have never payed for a replacement part for any of the 3 GE's I have, hopefully things haven't changed. Of course the Mathews and Bowtechs are nice but spendy. Good luck.

sullie- I just put a bow on ebay. 3 yr old bow but never used. I bought it for a back up incase something happened to my 1st bow. Completly outfitted only thing you would need is broadheads to go on the 6 arrows that come with it.

I've got an Alpline impact Xtreme i'll make you a deal on if you are interested in it... Its brand new in the box and i want to get rid of it. Bought as a back up but never used.
This one is way over priced but it gives you all the specs.

Sullie-

I didn't get you email, unless you were the one that bought the bow off ebay. Some guy in Cali. bought it. He got a great bow for $200.

work2fish-

It shoots around 250-260 @ 68 lbs draws weight. Its is a 65-80 lb bow. I imagine it would be pushing 300 fps or better if I cranked it up!!

Sullie....I've been poking around looking at bows myself. If you check out archerytalk or bowsite there are lots of discussions about bows plus a couple gear reviews that rate bows using several different criteria. The reviews are for higher end equipement, but a couple different bows in the $400 price range rated very well. Since I know next to nothing about archery equipment I plan using a reputable shop for my first bow purchase.

for sure the only way to really find out what you like is to go out and shoot all the different bows.

i know that alot of my buddies told me to buy a hoyt trykon, or switchback. but after shooting all the different bows the parker frontier was the best feeling to me.

reviews can give you a good idea, and narrow down your choices. make your final choice by actually shooting them all.

no problem. also if you can ask them to set the draw length for you.

i know i shot abuot 20 different bows before i finally chose the parker. and actually narrowed it down to 5 bows. and i noticed that after shooting a few of them that were set at 29" draw. then having one actually set for my draw length it made a world of difference. and made my choice even easier.
