After a frustrating brat season, I donned Bucket's hat after seeing Parker's success with it, and it paid off fabulous dividends on the Duc last Saturday:

Great times with great friends, and a big thanks to Pat and Bob for putting up with our antics.......my camera wasn't in Bob's boat when the two dudes in Pat's boat started reading the newspaper floating down river

P.S. it still works

Well then start sharing!!!

There is only one true fishing hat.

It's fishing, not Baseball.

I've got about a dozen regularly used "fishing hats"...and "yes", it does matter which one is being worn at specific times and places!

There's always someone or other out there to bitch about whatever hat I'm wearing, but the fact of the matter is that if they aren't there on the river with me and are still whining about my hat choice, then that means they saw a picture of me with a fish, wearing the hat, and most of their whining is likely due to jealousy, rather than any actual hostility towards my hat!

Fishing hats are a very important part of the fishing ritual...picking the right hat can go a long way towards a good day...or a bad one...don't screw it up!

If it's really windy, wear a cowboy hat, preferably one that is likely to blow off at any time...

If it's pouring down rain, then a cheap mesh baseball cap will do you just fine; the rain pours straight through, and if it's got the cool foam material on top, it can soak up rain like a sponge and send it down your shirt even after it stops raining.

Cheap poly stocking caps are also good in the rain...the water goes right through, and they keep absolutely no heat whatsoever in your head...

Fish on...

Todd

Bucket, those oilskin caps are excellent hats...especially when hiking in the summer, and it's 85 degrees out...the sun bakes your brain so bad in those that your body temp will rise to about 107 degrees, and you'll start hallucinating like you're on 14 hits of LSD.

You don't even care if you catch anything on a day like that.

Now that's fishin'.

Fish on...

Todd

My fishing hat is critical to my success, as I was reminded this Sunday when I discovered I didn't have it with me in my gear bag. My fishing hat has the little flip-down magnifier glasses on it. Those magnifiers are critical to my ability to tie on new leaders and tie flies to said leaders. Tying knots via the braille method sucks cuz I don't know or do braille.

Easy on the foamy front/mesh back hostlity T-Rip... Dual drink holder batter's helmet with the straw to mouth feature in rocket red is "THE" hat, period. (Maybe add some earphones plugged into the rod butt and you're on !)
