Check your local pawn shop, wood rat season is coming to an end so there should be plenty coming on the market. Or you could try craigslist.

Yeah I only found 2 models that I would be interested in at my local PS's. Problem is that they wont let pull the muffler to look at the piston and cylinder wall to really get the whole story on these saws. I really dont wanna get a saw that needs rebuilding from the jump. I really wasn't trying to go new cause I will probably be looking for a 066 here in a few months when I start felling some monsters.

Are you planning to use this saw to cut timber as a job, or recreation ?

I have ALOT of trees that need to be cleared on our property 30-50 cords of firewood worth. Gonna sell the wood eventually, so i guess you can say that it is for work.

Try calling Port Angeles Power Equipment, 360-452-4652 or 1-800-452-4652. I bought an 044 and another saw from them a few years ago and they were several hundred dollars cheaper than anyone else I could find, they sell ALOT of saws and used to carry some used ones too although it's been a while since I was last in there. They have a good supply of everything else you are going to need too. Good luck, we just did a little thinning and some very selective logging and it's definitely hard work.

Thanks for the info I will definately give them a call. I know what you mean about hard work, thats why I need to get it done before the fishing gets hot and heavy, after my first 2 days on a chainsaw all day I dont think i would have been able to pop the downrigger clip if i had to. what type of trees were you mostly dealing with Firs? The ones we are dealing with are mostly alder and oak, and boy does that oak give you a workout.

We did a mix of cedar, fir and a little alder. You may want to sell the alder as saw logs, it was $750 per 1000 BF last week, even on a 50/50 split that's still way more than firewood. Wasn't aware there were any stands of Oak out this way, that's gonna make some great firewood though. Maybe you should consider a hydraulic splitter too, I bought myself one as a retirement present, should never have waited so long.

Yes, already have a nice hydraulic splitter and boy does it make it that much better. We have some property that we are clearing and there are only about 15-25 big old oak trees not alot mostly alder and fir. What is 1000 BF. Pretty new this logging thing, but learning way faster than i intended to.

There is between 3000 and 4000 Board Feet per log truck load of alder saw logs............................+/- $2500 at the price mentioned above. If you can get it worked up and in a pile where a truck can get to it, then you could hire a self loader for around $80 per hour and not be sawing and hauling firewood.

IF you don't want to work it up and deck it, then you will probably have to pay 50%-60% for a logger.
