Got my first muzzleloader elk 3rd day of season. BIG GIRL!!!!! I'm 5'11" 230.

Got her to the truck the old fashon way, in pieces. 250 pounds quartered, backstraps and some loose meat

Then I was reduced to camp grouse hunter.

Here are some geese and my red eyed possesd hunting dogs.

Some puddlers and my pointer's first pheasant (flush and retrieve)

HA big guys?

Great pics. I last hunted big game in sept of 06 with my bow in NM. I cant wait to go after some elk again. I have never shook so hard as when i was trying to draw on a bull \:\)
looks like a good season.

CrazyTom I wasn't trying to itimidate or brag about my size. I was just giving the size comparison of the animal. How come little guys think their always being picked on?

Thanks D3. I used to bowhunt elk for years. Never got to draw on a bull because one never seemed to be around when I had a permit. When I didn't have a permit, they seemed to be everywhere (usualy the case). I bowhunt for deer every season and your heart pumps and hands shake drawing on a nice deer as well.

We used to go to NV every year in highschool to chase high country mule deer. If you guys have ever seen the video of Dwight Schue in NV it is the same country. Big deer and lots of fun. I can;t wait to get back down there.

I know, I have a to actually stand in front of the animal so it doesn't just look like a picture of an animal sleeping.

I had a great time this season. Its always great to get out with the dogs. I get more of a kick sometimes watching them hunt than I do bagging a bird.

Thats looks like nice buck (fat neck). At least you changed into some hunting cloths for the picture. I'm sure you were still in PJ's and the coffee wasn't done yet when you knocked him down. HA HA. NIce job.

Check out D3smartie's pics if you want to a good bird day (down a couple of posts).

Uncle Jim's sable smokes mine, but they were both a good time. Unfortunately, I believe the heads/capes were lost before hitting the shores of the US....oh, well.

Hard to beat Zim, for a good time, cost-wise and for variety of available game...

That's what I thought. I almost dropped the cash on one in .325wsm but decided to custom build a .375 Ruger on an HS precision stock and rem. action. For somethin' different since my safe is missing a small large bore.

Still may wind up with a Kimber also.

I'm not hip on the .325...though the Kimber is a great platform.

I did just finish a .375HH AI on a Sako L691...McMillan swirly, 22" PacNor, Cerrakoted and Micro-slicked, Talley Rings & bases, with a Leup fixed 6x sporting M1 ele turret...

Nice that should do anything required of it.

PacNor has a great reputation although I have no experience with them. Was going to go either Hart or Lilja but am still on the fence. Whatever, it will wear a stainless Bbl. with a coating of undetermined lineage, probably Warne QR with an iron site for the deep dark jungles, and a Vari X III 2-7X or I have my eyes on Zeiss. Not in any hurry since I'm also in the process of taking a parted out Win 1892 (mfg 1893) and refurbing it into a 16" trapper in .44 mag.

Swirly Mac. stock was my first clue. Is he a PacNor guy? If so why. Opinions from those in the know don't scare me.

Can't go wrong with Mcmillan I am using the HS precision stock 'cause it was free and has a DM.

Bummer about the meat. How does african game taste anyway? Is it tuff? What happens to the rest?

Oregonian. You cant eat d!ck and horns. It is horn hunters who give hunters in general a bad rap with the liberal extremist anti crowd. I think it be appropriate to eat the flesh of the animals I kill.

cupo. She's a real good eater. Goob eye on the blue. I mostly get ruffed where I hunt, but the occasional blue finds himself in front of my scattergun.

If you want to while away your life trying to impress the "liberal extremist anti crowd", then be my guest.

Those liberal extremists don't want you to have the freedoms you seem to love, and kissing their ace isn't going stop them from trying with all their might to get those freedoms taken away, my thinking is we might as well stand up to them, or better yet ignore them and everything they stand for, no matter how many of them there are. I think the word is principles...

I eat much of what I kill too, but that isn't the only reason to pull a trigger. IF you wanted to justify every creature you kill, things could get pretty confusing in a hurry...

Yeah I think your right and we should stick to our principles and not let them get out of hand. I dont believe we should give them any ammo to fight us either. I geuss my what I was trying to exprees was that personaly, I hate wasting game meat.

Your right about justifying everything we kil could get confusing. I'm sure we have both lost an animal after we have shot it. We know its going to die but we just cant find it. How can you justify that and sound like it was just. Thats something only a hunter can understand.

Have I dusted a few varmits in my time? Yes. Do I have a coyote pelt or two? Yes. Did I eat them? No.

Are varmits a different story? you tell me.
