Headed out there today, March 6. The lake is mostly covered with ice, except for the southern end. There is a strip of navigable water, about 14-15' wide, that leads from the boat launch to the southern end, which is ice-free. This strip gradually opens to approx. 30' before reaching the wide open water. I watched 2 guys launch today and easily make the open water, leaving me envious and wondering why I hadn't brought my gear!!!

You are very welcome, Jay S. I'll most likely fish it tomorrow and will post a report. It's still a bit early, but at this time last year, right after ice-off, they were hitting everything....buggers, leeches, chronies, blood worms, various hardware. I can't wait!

Got several on bloodworm patterns while fishing the southern end. I got off to a tough start, though! I lost my first fish, a large rainbow, within minutes of starting. I pulled my line in to verify that my bloodworm was still there. Seeing it I immediately tossed it back out. Strike...missed fish! Strike....missed fish! Strike...missed fish! What the? Thinking that maybe my pattern (sz 14) was too small I pulled in to switch out. Damn! Evidently that first fish broke my hook right at the pinched barb, leaving everything else intact! Bummer. After getting my stuff together I ended up doing OK, 8-9 to net and several others lost despite the heavy winds that came on later. One fellow had caught/released seventeen, also on bloodworms. For me any chironimid or bloodworm pattern in a red or maroon, beaded or not, rib or no rib, got action. Good luck if you make it over.

Hey I'm over to Spokane next week. Maybe I can find time to check this lake out while I'm there.

Make any and all effort! This lake can provide for a special fishing experience and should not be passed up! My partner went out today and nailed several 17-20" fish from the bank....the wind was so bad that he elected not to launch in his tube. So he went the easy, warmer route and still had a banner day! Hopefully the weather will cooperate while you're over this way.
