Fished the beaches of cresent harbo yesterday afternoon, as soon as the tide changed the fish started to jump, had one monster on, think i foul hooked him and her got off with a pink buzz bomb, than the action died with a couple of what looked like small steelhead. Talked to a couple people that morning on patrol and saw a guy have 2 good fish on in the morning, about 8 or 9 using a pink buzz bomb, saw alot of fish, but nothing would touch anything. AWHHH!!!!!!!!!!

I keep hearing that these fish dont bite, as I walk back to the truck with my daily limit.
Use something other than a huge chunk of lead and a treble hook and they actually do bite. Eggs, Dick Nites, Spoons, Jigs under a float etc....

fly..what are you doing to consistantly be getting limits. I usually can limit out every time I go to the beach by my house this time of year. Not this year. I have caught many in the river so far, kings and silvers, but getting a silver to bite in the salt this year has been hell. Are you on a river or the salt?

I've been banging my head on the rocks. I've been throwing everything in every color with every different scent.
Cowlitz, Puy, and Carbon are all lock jawed. Am I one of the few who is willing to admit defeat by a fish? Sounds like alot of "fish stories" told lately.

No, you're not one of the few Dr. E. I have never spent so much time fishing for silvers that just won't bite. All my normal ways of catching them just has not worked. I did better early in the season, when it first opened on local fish than I am doing now. Luckily the mighty ugly, stinky, muddy "Ditch" has kept me happy. If I were left to the local haunts around here on Whidbey my freezer would be a fish free zone.

Don't know what the problem with the silvers are.. I know we did get into a few on a small coastal river on spinners and eggs but it was some pretty bleak fishing for the amount of fish seen. The funny part was every silver we landed had an adipose fin and it has both wild and hatchery silvers there. Guess moral of the story is if Fish and Game would discard these non-biting hatchery fish and start up a broodstock program on some wild ones, we might see some decent fishing... Also, if there were some more water that couldn't hurt! Keith

Sure right about the lockjaw theory! I have hit my secret holes up and down the Stilly, all over the Snohomish and today up on the Sky. Fish are not as thick as past years but are still thick enough. All the go to ways are just not working. With exception of the wiggle warts on the lower Sno that did work a couple weeks ago. Nothing else will. I will try some roe and see if thats the trick soon on the trib of the Skagit we love so much...

Put me in the defeated by lockjaw club. The only few fish caught on my boat where hootchies stuffed with krill paste, but just a few.
On Saturday we didn't catch a thing with the exception of some shakers. But, as I was trolling along the boat goes by a banana peel floating in the middle of the sound. At that point I knew all was lost.
Hey, you guys who are smacking them how about posting a few photos so we can remember what they look like.

I've always found in the rivers that they really won't get aggressive until they are stacked in the holes having to compete. They'll jump and such but won't hit anything. Right now is like fishing in August. IMO there just aren't enough of them yet.
This year I'm finding on the salt that a slow troll is keeping shakers off and I'm hooking silvers. Although not as many as normal but I'm getting them when others aren't. Why? I don't know but it's working.

I first gotta ask...Love2Snag, are you serious?!?/!? I hope that was just sarcastic.
I do realize that any conversation with Sol involving a whistle should probably be left alone due to the high propbability that it could degenerate quickly.
Iceshark..I want a Sturgeon. Only caught a few smaller ones years ago down on the Big C. My fishing haunts are anything that holds water and fish. But yeah, I'll meet up and let's get some fishy's. Snoho for me tomorrow, maybe try a little above 522 too, then maybe the Samish on my long round-about-way home. You can tell my confidence in catching the mighty Silvers is waning, at least I pretty much know I can get something out of the Ditch. And there's been alot of nice bright kingers and chunky silvers.

I'm frustrated too trying to get the silvers to bite. I gave up on the Quilcene a week ago, all the fish are below the deadline, except for the chums. Point No Point nothing but shakers, dogfish, birds, seals, and bullheads. Nothing happening at Salsbury. Agate Pass a few shakers, seen a couple jump. There's some silvers in front of my house, Liberty Bay just a couple of miles north of Sol's, and can't get them to bite. I'm thinking about floating some eggs in the salt. Spoon, spinner, darts, buzz bombs, spoons, hoochie spinners, nothing seems to work.

Ike [/b]\\ First off, Rock I should have known that was you! And Todd, Very nice to meet you! It was fun getting insight from a "REAL" fisherman! I enjoy learning and watching fisher people like you in action. I dont consider myself anything other then a person that enjoys all the fishing and classic boat restoration forums. All are good and have there good and bad, and ups and downs. I look forward to fishing with you and others here on this site. The other Todd R as well! Peace. By the way, I am going to hit the lower other "S" river by concrete plant tomorrow afternoon. Will report back. Ice Out.

still waiting for the report You'll probably be waiting quite a while S4B. Tod (Iceshark) passed away 13 or so years ago leaving a young family behind.

One thing to keep in mind, is that of you believe in Darwin, then what spawns is what survived all the fisheries. So, if you harvest 90-95% what survives the hook and line fisheries by not not blighting, survives the net fisheries by either coming back a different time or swimming through the net (small) and so on.
