Thanks for the help on Crayfish. I guess I will look into some brown/red jigs with Twin tail grubs as trailers. I have some crayfish scent as well so that will work good.
The plastics I use are Gary Yamamato's Senko's. Or just Senkos. Their performance has been unmatched by other types of plastics for me atleast. As some of you may have seen earlier my lake for some reason only likes to bite on plastics.
There are plenty of patterns for plastics, they work like most other baits. When fish are sluggish use smaller plastics ( too hot or too cold). When perfect weather or in fall choose a longer plastic, in the NW maybe 6" is as far as I would go. Darker plastics work better in cloudier conditions and semi-clear water. Bright plastics in muddy water. Fish them fast when fish are biting. Fish slow when fish are spooked or stubborn. I personally fish weightless plastics because it's very effective. Bass have eyes on the top of their head, they are meant to hang out deeper and then come to above them to feed. A lot of fisherman will fish below the Bass when it's not necessary. But yeah the plastic style can also be about imitating the forage fish at that time. Such as sunfish, crappie, or trout.
