I have never fished the lake your heading to. I fished lots of bass in Michigan and lots of smallmouth here in WA. This time of year you got to hit them right in the mouth. Your chances catching a lot of bass is very low but your chance of a big one is good. If you dont want to work at it I would look for trout this time of year.

This time of year can be very good at Silver. Best bet is going to be flipping small (1/4 oz) black and blue jigs with trailer. Either pork or plastic craw will work fine. Water down there is usually very stained, that is why the 1/4 oz will normally work better with a trailer. You want to slow down the fall rate of the bait and allow the bass an opportunity to locate it. Stay with dk colors when flipping. You can also have decent luck with shallow crankbaits, and slow rolling white spinnerbaits. Good luck to ya. Will be there on Saturday. Silver has plenty of pads, however this time of year the weeds will most likely not be much of an issue. Stick tight to the shoreline cover.

Thanks alot, We will give it a try. Have you heard anything on the water temp? I have heard it's a real shallow lake so probably mid 40's?

2 weeks ago I called down to Silver Lake Resort. Temp at that time was low 40's, on March 3rd it was reported that the water temp was 42-45. You are correct the lake is very shallow the deepest spots only reaching 10'. I see you are nearby me, if you want to change your plans and head down on Saturday let me know and we can caravan on down there. With a couple of boats there maybe we can exchange some info on the water and figure it out. This will be my first time down there this year.

Well lets see. Broke my transducer off my electric motor banging it on a rock and got a dead cell in one of my batteries for the electic motor so I lost power for that after about 3 hours. Only got 2 decent bites and missed both of them..GRRRRRRR. Talked to several boats down there, only 2 of them said they had gotten anything. Must of been at least 30 boats on the water, was a real struggle at times finding a spot without a boat ontop of it. Water temp in afternoon was 51.4.
