I got a phone call today from the department of fish and wildlife. The woman on the phone said, I am just calling to let you know you were drawn for the Huckleberry spring bear hunt. I had no idea that they would actually call everyone. It is really cool because my wife was sitting next to me and it makes it seem like it really is a big deal to get drawn. Makes it a lot easier to get to go.
Now the problem. I really didn't expect to get drawn and now I am unsure how good the hunt really is going to be and how much time I should spend up there. Its about a 6 hour drive for me and I have only spent about 3 days in the area in my life. Should I go early or will it be better later on? Should I only glass open areas or should I try to predator call? Any advice would be well appreciated. Thanks.

I am not familiar with that area but here is what I would do.
First contact F&G and DNR
Get good maps (probably before contacting above)
Get out the binos and spotting scope.
and call like hell with a predator call, probably fawn in distress.

We got drawn on the west side.

Good luck.

I just happen to live right in the middle of Huckleberry 121.. I wasnt so lucky to draw a spring bear tag,, But if you come over I would be happy to point you in the right direction..
My Driveway

Checking the mail.. The boy said he never seen his ol man run so fast.

My wife wants this big guys hide on the wall,, He's been killing the fawns every spring
