Here's a lesson it took me awhile to learn. Not every provocation requires a response. Sometimes walking away, or keeping your mouth in standby mode, is the appropriate action. It does take two to fight. One guy arguing alone is silly. Think about it, two guys with knives drawn is a fight, one guy in the middle of the street with a knife is a mental patient off their med's.

There are far too many people on all these boards who *think* they are in some big ol' fight with somebody or another over something or another, and while they're getting angrier and angrier, and their posts are getting angrier and more ridiculous, the "other guy" is having a hard time typing as he is laughing his ass off and falling out of his chair reading the crap that is being posted.

As a veteran "other guy", I can tell you, Merg, that the angrier you get, and the more you post, the harder the other guys are laughing.

You'll likely be thinking right now "I'm not angry, though...", and I'll tell you this...when you manage four or five posts in a row, without anyone else posting in the interim, then you are thinking waaaayyyy too much about it, and at the very least are obsessed with it...and probably angry, too.

The gay friend doesn't bitch about having to hold her purse when she's in the dressing room. He's not afraid to say that dress makes her look fat. When she has to redecorate, your taste sucks but the gay guy knows just what patterns and colors will work with her eclectic style.

Oh I don't know about that. Even "mature" women get bored with wussy men who do everything on your list. And when women get bored they run off with more exciting men (exciting=unstable, abusive, or otherwise just a class A jackass).
