Rock music seems to be coming full circle back to a singles format like in the early days of rock and roll as singles to download become more prevalent in the computer age thru myspace and other sites. Way back when shows would have several singers on the same bill and fewer singers had their own bands. Record companies are going down the tubes as cd sales drop off and brick and mortar record stores are going down like Tower did. I think it will give more control back to the artists rather than them having to conform to what accountants think will boost the bottom line.

The Allman Bros with Derek Trucks fillin in for Dickie (greg claimed dickie was too high, imagine that) at the Janus Jazz Aspen festival about 8 yrs ago.
Burning Spear, the man's like watchin a holy reggae revival, and it's byob
Wayne Shorter Quartet at the Paramount,
DRI about 10 yrs ago, used up, but a fun show,
everything else pails in comparison for my experience, except for way back in the day when the Rock Candy was still a cool trendy spot to see the local talent. But I can't clearly recall any evening entirely that I spent there. Oh well, when Andrew Wood comes back fro the grave, I'll make sure to stay sober for the show.

Hey Moe you don't happen to have a copy of that show do you...I was there. I think that was the show when the flock on Honkers flew right above everyone's heads toward the stage. I'd love a copy if you have it! I also remember a good Athena at Mem. Stadium.

Parker -
RUSH does indeed still rock. In fact, they are one of the better-rockin' of the "older" bands. Not to be missed by any means.
Lot's of the "older" bands still rock surprisingly well. STYX comes to mind. The DEAD (reincarnation of the Grateful Dead) are damned good and the scene is the same except a skoche smaller. RATDOG (Bobby Weir's band) rocks hard. BLUE OYSTER CULT still rocks hard, but you find them playing casinos nowadays and not so much at the festivals etc. NEIL YOUNG still plays a great show especially if he's with CRAZY HORSE. I saw ZZ TOP 3-4 years ago and they rocked hard. FOREIGNER was damn good a couple years ago. STONES still rock hard obviously and I think the same could be said of AEROSMITH.
Big thing I'm waiting for is a PHISH reunion. It will be huge. Could happen anytime. Expect a SUPERTRAMP reunion soon also!

Seastrike,
I remember the honkers but I think it was the Wednsday show. Don't have a copy of that show. I DO have a copy of the Friday show but I'll have to find it first then give you a shout. If you don't hear from me within a couple weeks remind me, OK?
I'm just super busy with other stuff (little league baseball mostly) at the moment. Will try to keep you on one of the front burners however.

PHISH sucked... they just lured in a bunch of lost Dead Heads after Jerry died and rode the wave for awhile.. Also, the front man is in the Pen last I knew.
I saw Neal Young a few years ago and he was good. The Pretenders warmed up for him and were better.
Not Only would I not go see Rush, if we were riding in your car and you popped it into your C.D player, I would pop it out and throw it out the window to stop the hurting in my ears.
Another guy I don't care if I ever hear again is Ted Nugent. Seen him way to many times.

Agree on Rush. Like Neal and disagree on Phish. Listen to My Morning Jacket is you like Neal.

Nirvana at Hoquiam Eagles '88. Not their best show, but you read about it a lot.
Slayer at Mercer Arena '93
Dave Matthews, Tim Reynolds and friends at Key Arena around '04

I never was a big concert goer, but I did catch a few in the 80's. The Stones, the Who, AC/DC. My favorite "show" was AC/DC's, For Those About to Rock, in the Seattle Center Coliseum. It was like sitting in the barrel of a shotgun for an hour and a half.

Any of these concerts you would rather attend than catch a 30lb Steelhead or a platnum 30lb Coho or 70lb King? Only one I would trade would be the Stevie Ray Vaughn resurection tour if it would bring him back. I am sure He died befor he peeked. Might trade 2 of the 3 to see Hindrix and Stevie do little wing together.

Foreigner was my first concert in Seattle back in 79 or so. I think Blue Oyster Cult opened. Seen Heart, Billy Squire, Loverboy, Pat Benetar, Molly Hatchet (Paramount w/Sol's sis), April Wine in the early 80's. Byan Adams, Huey Lewis and The News, Pretenders, Jefferson Starship, Yes, and Rush in the mid 80's - some after working traffic control at Wazzu. Went to a formal dance where the Romantics played. I think my last concert was Aerosmith in 89.
Saw Alice In Chains before they made it big at the Vogue in Seattle. Went to Bumber Shoot, saw the Neville Bros and BB King. Anybody remeber Duffy Bishop and the Rythym Dogs?
My wife went to see Brittany Spears with my daughter. More recently Nickleback.
Oh well I fish.
There was a cool local band playing at the Portside Pub during Viking Fest, last month, called Knucklehead that does a good Led Zepplin set. The drummer is awesome.
