Howdy all,

There are two projects I need to get done around the place that are, well, in a sense beyond my abilities...both in skill and the physical work that needs accomplished.

1) We have a front area I want to have cleared (brush, ivy, etc.) and graded out, then brought to a level with my driveway so's we can have an RV parking spot, or a spot to park a boat (or 2). Will need at least 10 yds. of fill.

2) Need an experienced deck builder!

We want to re-build and expand the size of our existing deck; it is shot due to being built with un-treated wood. I want to use treated wood but need someone who knows what the hell they are doing to do the work, or most of it. I can screw down the planking, but framing, etc. I need HELP!

I would try these projects on my own, and could likely get them done...but it would take way too long and require skills I don't have. I've run a lot of machinery, but doing it "right" and "Mike's way" are two different things.

I want it done right.

Willing to pay real money, trade for fishing trips, trade for ???. I'm flexible, but need someone who has a clue about this work.

I take it you're up in Skagit County...........

You might consider Trex for your deck. It's more expensive but you'll never have to stain again and it won't rot.

Yep. 30 miles E of Mt. Vernon, S. side of the Skagit.

Thought about Trex, but it's spendy, and the support system (joices, etc.) can still only be regular treated wood, which is good enough for my needs. Trex requires more support, and is not as robust as wood is.

Great idea, but too damn expensive mor my budget at the moment.

I would love to help but I am in a different state. It is possible for me to walk you through the process if you wish. I am a Superintendent for a general contractor. Building decks is not difficult if you take your time...

Trex only requires 16" centers. That is pretty common in deck building? Worht the extra money!!

Trying to do this on my own is not possible as some of the labor is more than I am physically capable of....these days. (woulda been different 20 years ago!).

I could have replaced what we have now with new, treated wood, but the joists, etc. are shot too, and we also want to expand the deck to about twice what it is now. Those that have seen it know it is good sized now...but after it's done it will be awesome!

We plan to add a cook center and a firepit to the new deck, and a covered area for those long summer afternoon snoozes..;-)
