Fished beach last night and i have been doing really well withthe buzz bombs..and i got to thinking about diamond jigs..they are almost identical to buzz bombs..i am a avid striper guy from new england and we used diamond jigs at the rips in deep water and we tweaked the diamond jigs and got alot more fish....did the same thing to a buzz bomb last night and it works the same..

By "tweaked" do you mean bent a bit? I will give that a try. I used to fish stripers in New England too? We fished them from the surf with sliders and hunks of mackrel.

So by tweaked do you mean you fished it when the salmon were around \:\)

I've seen modifications, even people cut them and half and fish them, but what did you do...

My uncle use to pin them down on the hook to prevent them from sliding up the mainline, basically a diamond jig at that point.

How about the hootchie under the BB? Maybe even try a spin'glo above it. what worked for you ! \:\)

Has nothing to do with the buzz bomb itself, no cutting or modification, but a simple piece of yarn above the jig. When striper fishing in long island sound we did the same thing. but a small piece of yarn above the jig and it outfished everything from bucktails to chunking. tried it last night at the beach and it worked great. had alotmore hook ups than other people.

Weird... does it change the action? Any bead between the yarn and the buzz bomb? It would seem like the yard would get jammed in the top hole of the buzz bomb?

You could always put some scent on that yarn too.

The best buzz bombs are the ones you find on the beach, in the sand, all scuffed up. Add some sea weed on it and you got yourself the ultimate beach rig, right Jeff D.

The yarn thing sounds fun to try and the price is right! Thansk Lead head

Are you using red yarn at the head of the jig? If so, it likely imitates the gills or throat of a injured baitfish. Good idea.

Yeah try to get as close to blood red and cut a piece about 1/8 inch bigger than you BB and tie directly to line just about the BB. The yarn works great for holding scent as well as giving it the "trail of Blood" imitation as the BB drops down after to work it. This method is great for nailing the stripers and thw salmon seem to like it as well...does not matter what color buzz bomb, just as long as you got that blood red color. Good LUCK!

Hey addicted, I think you might have found one my brother broke off, if it was white. He had a big silver or small king on and lost it because it swam at him and he didn't back out of the water soon enough. He got mad and jerked it into the tree, then madder and jerked it until it broke and we couldn't find it. My last four fish on have come unbuttoned too, I'm not sure what the deal is. Part of it might be the hooks don't have a completely closed eye. I might go back to trebles now that it's legal again. Let me now if you want to fish sometime. I haven't down to the beach in two days because my mom's been mad and won't let me drive the car \:\(
