Damn...some days really suck sh1t.

Those of you that have fished with me and have visited our home have met my buddy...his name is Sebastian.



He was a cool cat, and as I work at home he and I had many lengthy conversations about many subjects over the last 3 1/2 years that we had the pleasure of having him.

Last evening, 2 stray dogs, a Pit Bull mix and a lab looking one came through our back yard, and went after Sebastion on the back deck and chased him down to the river where they went at it. He put up one hell of a fight (I found him today), but a 16 lb. Persian, even one with his attitude, was no match for a Pit and a Lab that are known in the neighborhood to "tag-team" another dog or a cat.

Some guys like dogs..me, I love cats, and this one was close to both Doris and I...slept with us most nights, and we just this year let him out uinattended for short period as he looked so unhappy always looking out the window..wanting to be outside too.

Let me tell ya, he left the world a Warrior, and when I found him tonight and prepared to bury him I took several chunks of those dogs out from between his claws...they paid a price to get him...and will pay a MUCH BIGGER one as soon as I can find them.

Tonight we got notice (ie: approval) from the county animal control that the dogs have been declared "Dangerous", and I can shoot them on site if they enter my property at any time.

Rest assured, my 12 ga. is sitting by the back door, loaded (no plug) with 3" mags of BB's, and a 28" full choke. I ain't having no F%$#@! mercy for any dog that comes on my property, anymore. If I don't know the dog, and it even looks like it is going to do something wrong, it's over.

Sometimes life just sucks. Had to tell my wife that I found him...damn.,..that was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do.

So, I raise a glass to him, and wish him a good journey, hoping our paths will cross again someday. Cat Heaven just gained one of our best.

Mike, that sucks...my condolences go out to you and Doris! I hope you take care of business with the the dogs responsable and if you need some back up fire power....im always locked and loaded!!!! :>)

However, its not all bad news. Your a nice guy so I am going to help you out. I am sending both my wifes cats to you UPS over night. The white ones name is Skittles, the brown ones name is Twix.

Sorry about the loss Mike. Hopefully, you'll find another cat someday that will bring you happiness.

Sorry bud, to some people it may have been "just a cat" but those varmits are easy to get attached to.

I hate my cat, but...well, you know.

Do what you gotta do Man! I have no problem with dealing with "issues" like that when they come up, and I will look forward to hearing of their demise, even if it's by email.

I am doing a similar thing today though not as graphic as finding a mauled pet.
My best friend of 14 years was unable to stand up to go outside to take a piss last night. I had to call Kev and say "Hey man I can't go fishing tomorrow morning...gotta deal with a sick dog." I felt bad (like I was flaking). Kev and I have met and fished together but never on one of our boats.
We made a plan that I'd call him at 3am if Cosmo got better. At 3 no change.
At 7am this morning I had to carry her outside and she tipped over while eating and tipped over again while doing her business.
F'ing sad. She cried when trying to stand last night and again when I carried her out this morning.
This dog has had a couple hundred stiches hitting barbed wire while chasing birds and knocked herself out running into a pole while chasing a ball and has NEVER cried before.
I just got off the phone with the vet. They ran my credit card and have all the paper work ready so I can walk in sign and flee.
Ten years ago I put a dog down and stayed to be with her...that was a mistake. I can take apart an elk or a deer no problem but watching my buddy die I will not do again if I can avoid it.
I was not going to post this until I read your thread...sorry for the hijack but it feels good to get it out and lots of people on here have met Cosmo.
I'm going to take a break from dog ownership for a while. In two years when my boy turns 10 we will start a puppy to hunt together. In the mean time keep me in mind this fall and winter boys if you are going on a duck or upland hunt and need an extra gun. Mrs. C will hopefully be chasing ducks and pheasants in doggie heaven (though I really don't beleive that). Kinda makes me feel better to think it though.

Damn Dave,(and mike) I am sorry for your loss. I met Cosmo and she was a good girl. I have a female black lab who I am very close to and reading your post really made me sad, but it also made me appreciate the time that we have together right now. Some day I will have to go through the same thing. Unfortionatly our animals dont live as long as we do, but I am willing to bet that Cosmo had a great quality of life in those 14 years. I've lost many pets before, but none I took the chance to get this close to.

I'm hunting for those dogs, as are half the neighborhood.

It had been suggested by a relative that I not kill those dogs...my thoughs are that IF I let them survive next time I see them they could seriously injure or kill a small child the next day...I would never forgive myself. Nope, I see them where I can end their miserable lives they will dissapear as of that moment.

This incident also seems to have "rallied" the neighborhood to move along the process of getting all these Meth maggots and trash out out of our neighborhood...hope the trend continues.

Hey Mike I have a few cut down 12ga bunny guns that when loaded with slugs will chase down a runnen rabbit the beter part of a hundred yards. Don't need em until Feb if ya want to barrow one. Sorry for your loss

Dave I just started over after the two year break. Still miss him. Its tough not comparing new to old so pick the new one carefully. All Labs are not created equal not yet anyway.
