Takko, Hatfield, Hargrove, Kessler, Van de Wege, Blake make up the Coastal Caucus which includes the 19th and 24th Legislative Districts.

Keep those e-mails and snail mails rolling folks.

BTW, if any of you Grays Harbor locals still has a copy of last Friday's Daily World that included my Letter to the Editor, I'd appreciate a copy for the scrapbook. My office copy already hit the trash. Feel free to drop it by the office at 1720 Sumner (across from Aberdeen Honda)... and come on in for a visit/chat. If I'm too busy, you can still step in and peruse the fishing-themed office decor.

I think we still have a copy of it. I'll check, and drop off a few beads if I do have it.

fish4brains, if you are in Olympia you are either in the 20th or 22nd Legislative district. Use the district finder to find out for sure. If you are in the 20th your reps are, Gary Alexander and Richard DeBolt and your Senator is Dan Swecker (a fish farmer, ugg). If you are in the 22nd your reps are Brendan Williams and Sam Hunt and the Senator is Karen Fraser.

Let em know!

Maybe I missed it in the prior posts... did anyone catch any fish (silvers, kings, steelhead, sculpins)?

I saw one bullhead caught, no silvers or anything else. I left at 4:25.

I stayed until about five o'clock. Just before leaving there was a silver that came right along the shoreline. There were also a couple of good V-wakes within casting distance.

Missed opportunity...

I would have stayed longer, but I promised my girls no later than 5:00 pm.... that way I could fix them a good dinner and get 'em back to Issaquah at a decent hour.

You can bet I'll be back before the official "opener"... just not this evening. Making/hosting a farewell dinner tonight for my oldest who is headed off to college in the morning.

My personal e-mail to the Coastal Caucus...

To the Legislators of the Coastal Caucus:

Disgruntled recreational fishermen in Grays Harbor staged a protest over the weekend to voice their concerns about how they were short-changed by the WDFW for the 2007 salmon season. Recreational anglers in this area are sick and tired of settling for crumbs while three separate gillnet fisheries (Quinault, Chehalis, and non-tribal) in the Chehalis Basin are given the lion’s share of the harvest allocation. We are already the minority user of the resource, and over the years, all we get in return is diminished opportunity in the form of ever-shorter seasons to wet a line.

http://thedailyworld.com/articles/2007/09/17/local_news/02news.txt

I have been personally involved in the Grays Harbor Salmon Harvest Management Task Force for the past three years. It is both frustrating and discouraging to see the recreational user’s conservation and allocative concerns repeatedly ignored year after year. The WDFW’s disconnect with its recreational constituency has never been greater. We need YOUR help.

Sincerely yours,

Since NOF is national it might be prudent to touch base with some DC folks as well.

Oh, is the Chehalis Tribal fishery still counted out of our allocation of impacts???
