Well I fish the RIGHT handed reel the 200, but I'll help you out anyway. You will need backing as that amount of 20 lb. PP will only fill the Curado spool about 1/2 to 2/3 of the way. I think that stuff is about 6 lb. mono size.
I do it the simple way, buy the stuff @ a store that spools line & let them do it up for you while you shop, have done 3-4 reels that way & only get charged for the PP.

I buy the 300yd spools of 30# PowerPro and fill my Curados all the way with that. I've never used backing and I've never had the line slip around my spool.
Your results however may vary.

I do the 150 yard spools of 30 lb. PP with mono backing, saves me some coin as that PP lasts forever & I never see the mono, well as of yet..... For you do it yourself types you need to know the right knots for the PP to mono union, think its the double uni-knot is the one, that or I'm pretty sure the Albright will work too. Then you have to play with the right amount of mono to fill the spool, have fun...... C/22

Either way, make sure you put tape or a short backing on the bottom so the braid doesn't slip...Later Jake What kind of tape? I'm getting ready to put 30# PP on my spinning reel.

Kaiser D. -
Good timing...just threw some 30lb Power Pro on my Curado 200 yeaterday adn it took 165 yrds. So...I think that you will need more than 150 of the 20 lb stuff. I agree withthe post above that said to find a store that sells it in bulk and have them spool it for you. That way you only pay for what you need. They put electrical tape on my spool then slapped on the 165 yrds of 30lb. Piece 'o cake. Good luck. NCD.

I would skip the 20 and just buy 30. The 20 is so thin it cuts your hands while rigging up.

Agree, use 30lb, Your hand get alittle damp and that 20# will cut right into you. I had had 80# cut into before and your fingers areall fucked up after a day of fishing. It does not matter if you ise backing or not, Just remeber PUT THE LINE ON AS TIGHT AS YOU CAN! I was in Keo Largo FL and i just spooled up my Shimano tekota 600 with 80LB Stren Super braid (THE BEST BRAID) and i hooked up with a 100lb Tarpon, If you know a tarpon the run like a bitch, and he was spooling my drag and the line dug all the way down to my spool in one side beacuse the line was not on tight enough. So that is key.

If you want a full spool here is the "way some of us do it"
Takes about 5 minutes to do this...
Like "Blades" above, I only use Stren braided line, buy in the 300 yd. Have a place measured out, exactly 100 yards.....walk line out to 100 yd mark, cut at that point.
1. empty spool
2. tie the 100 yards of "braided line" on 1st, spool that on the reel.
3. then tie on some kind of mono line to the end of the braided line, continue until the reel is "as full as you want it".
4. run it all off again......tie the mono on the reel and "crank it in" making sure you keep it tight.
The above way gives you a "full spool", and 100 yds of braided line "is a lot".
If you happen to break of "quite a bit of the braid", then you can go home and just replace the 100 yards of braid.
Another advantage to doing it this way....even if you don't break off much of the braided line...it does change color.....you can just reverse the "braided line" after a period of time.
Works for many of us, in this part of the State!!!!!!
