I run 30lb Power Pro right to the plugs. It has 8lb diameter and you save a lot of plugs.

You will lose expensive plugs with too light mono, imho...
Depends where you fish. I don't wanna lose big fish and I don't really care about small ones. I have 20lb mono on steelhead plug rods and 60 lb. power pro on my glass salmon plug rods.

your mileage may vary, but any plug that i've lost on mono(from a boat at least) would have been likely lost with power pro or comparable line as well. usually moving the boat over to the snag and reeling down until the rod tip can touch the plug, and shaking it will get it free .

Kings are lurking ....80 lb. Power-pro to a 4 foot 40 lb. mono leader to the K-16. And ya just might get a suicidal Ho in the mix I take no prisoners.............. C/22

set your drag lighter when using braids pulling plugs or you may be looking for some new poles

Braid straight to the duo-snap, then attach your favorite plug.
50# Tuff for pulling K-16's for kings or 30# PowerPro pulling K-11's, Warts, Hotshots, etc... for coho / steelhead.
All the fish see is the ass end of the plug wigglin' in their face anyway so there's no real need for any kind of mono leader, IMHO.
Set your reel drag accordingly and always make sure your hooks are SHARP!
