I heard it was a 5.6...Anyone else feel it? I know there's a few guys from this part of the map that are on PP...I guess it was 9 miles NE of San Jose but felt throughout the bay area..

Im out of state here in San Jose for school, and being 9 stories up in a dorm building makes it a little interesting.

Having grown up in Earthquake country one becomes accustomed to the occasional quake. That's a decent sized one. The one in 89 was downright scary. Our living room floor was rolling like it was 3 foot swells. The world series was on and our power went off. I'll never forget it. The force of our earth is simply amazing.

My brother lives in Man Jose.

Said it skeered the schidt outta him but it was a "low roller, not a popper, so there was no damage."

I've been through 8 earthquakes--- 5 in Cal., 1 in Boise and 2(3?) here in Seattle. They sure have the ability to make you feel insignificant.

I called my daughter in Berkley last night. She said it lasted about 15 seconds but didn't seem to cause much damage. She was on the phone with a friend in SF while it occurred, and they talked about it while it was happening without incident. 5.6 is a pretty strong quake for so little damage being reported. Maybe everything that is vulnerable to quakes that size and smaller has already broken or collapsed, so maybe they're in pretty good shape until a really big one shakes things up.

We are long over due for a good one around here.... My advice is to have an emergency kit packed and a good plan to make it on your own for a few weeks. Lots of water!

I think if that part of the world some of us refer to as Pelosiville would slip into the ocean the world would be a much happier place.

Do the gay republicans burn any better than the straight ones?

Is there such a thing as a straight republican???

When you pick them up to throw them on the fire they get all rigid. I guess they are all straight in the end.

They keep tossing dems on the fire but it keeps flaming out, kinda like Katie Couric's ratings.

I don't think Republicans are gay. They're bi. They all have wives and kids for public image purposes, and then they have their real life on the side. Yeah, that's it. When ya' see two guys walking arm in arm down the street in SF, at least there's no pretense about who or what you're dealing with. Katrina rules rule, Parker! but you should have more than just a single shotgun. This is America after all.

There is no such thing as a democratic party gay sex scandal. In that party they only have heterosexual intern sex scandals.

Where did I say I only own a *single* shotgun? Last time I peeked in the gun safe, the # of shotguns is at...er.... 6.

Another 6 handguns. (Traded/sold most of them).

2 Assault rifles

3 high powered hunting rifles

1 lever action rifle

3 shooting/varmit guns. (not mine, but they are in there).

1 pellet rifle. 1 pellet pistol.

Plenty of knives and ammo for all guns.

Bring on the neighborhood!

\:D

Speaking of which, I'm painting my basement and need to move the gun safe this weekend.

Ugh. Don't know how many gun 1000 pound gun safes you all have moved, but it sucks ass. Truly does. Not only that, but a guy can get seriously hurt and killed by these damn things. Once they move, you DO NOT stop them.

Man, this is gonna suck.

Welcome back!

How was the hunting trip?

We can join forces. I saw we take over one of the Home Depot's and use that as our fire base!

PS. No contest there. Wedgwood is full of old and decaying people. We don't stand a chance!

And Wallingford is full of yuppies and old people. I think I own the only guns here.
The trip was a challenge. The first three days were temps in the 60's. Then we had four days of snow and 30 yards of vis. I chained up all 4 wheels day 4 and didn't take em off until I left. When it finally broke the elk were out but I was only able to get close to cows.
I did shoot a decent buck but I'm elkless this year.
I had one close but brief (ie 2 seconds) encounter with an absolute wall hanger of a mulie.
I also toasted my achilees and one knee. A fun hunt overall but I'm limping around like an old man and I've been home for a week.
I'm going to go hobble around a river for a change of pace this afternoon.
ps Between the two of us I think we'd eat ok after a quake.
When are you going to shoot that bar?
