If you had any to choose only one rod to use all year long (and money was not an issue) what would it be. The rod must be able to handle winter nates, springers, summer runs, and fall chinook.

I have my own opinion on the matter, but I wanted to see what all of you had to say.

Christmas is just around the corner

It's hard to find one that would be good for both summer runs and for fall Chinook...quite a size disparity there!

If it could be only one...CP X96JC...if I could have two I'd throw in the CP X110MHC, too.

Fish on...

In thinking about this question I think that it would be appropriate to expand the topic to any two rods, as I agree with Todd on the extreme difference between summer runs and fall kings.

Tough question.........

Summer-runs and other smaller steelhead or nates out of the sled.......easy....IMX 1141 Loomis

Everything else......10 1/2 foot rod for 10-20 lb line. A little on the light side for fall fish but good for everything else and I don't fish fall fish much but it would do in a pinch.

GLoomis 1143C in GL3 or better. Very soft upper but enough backbone in the but section to turn a mid-sized fall king. I have plenty of other rods- I agree it wouldnt be my choice for summer steel, but if you are trying to narrow it down to one rod only that would be my first choice.
Good luck

If only one rod? I would think the Lami X 10 MTC would do a decent job on everything but summer runs where it would be a bit heavy but serviceable. If a second were added maybe the X 96 JC or a Rainshadow XST 1143.

Loomis 1025 is about as versatile as it gets.

Driftfishing (is there anything else? \:D ) heavier rod......Sage 290

Driftfishing lighter rod........Loomis GL3 1141 (GL3 is more durable than IMX and your not giving up much, if anything, in bite detection)

I'd have to know where I'm fishing. If I was going to spend another year in SE AK than the X 96 JC is the best bet cause you are fishing small streams. If I was in WA I got the rod I want, the 10ft Herzog rod. does it all and not to mention about all I've been fishing in the last two years has really been spoons. but thats all me.

Haven't had much time on it yet, but I'm thinking this new addition might be right up there. It's the same one 3Rivers is giving out for the derby winner.

Can't find much info out there on it yet, so I'll keep you posted. Click 1165C

I guess I would have to agree on the 1025c (IMX or GL3)...

BUT...wondering why no one has said 1084c IMX. Guys down here use it on Chinook and we all know it is a great Steelie rod. Thoughts?
