For those of you that follow the Huskies, or any collegiate or pro sports for that matter, this is a fascinating read on just how crooked the 2000 Huskies Rose Bowl team was. Don't care much for the Huskies, but doubt that the UW is the first school to get away with things like this. More than anything, it paints a pretty poor view of the society we live in. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2004147443_rboverview27m0.html

I have read those two articles. It pretty amazing that both of those guys continued to play. And one of them was never ever charged.

I read the article. There is another one today. It seems kind of odd that this stuff would come out seven years after that team played its last game. Maybe someone at the Times has a hard on for the Huskies. Could be a pissed off Coug who doesn't want the Huskies to get stadium money Stevens no doubt was and still is a huge loser as where some of the other players. Unfortunately, the article paints the entire team as a bunch of out of control rapists and malcontents, which isn't true. Nice job of showing a photo of Stevens with Marcus Tuiasosopo. Talk about polar opposites. Anyone who thinks that a college football team doesn't reflect society in general needs to catch a clue. There are winners and losers on all major college teams, just like in life. Believe it from someone who has been there. The winners far outnumber the losers.

Don't you mean it paints a pretty poor view of the corporate culture at the UW athletic program. Husky Fans are findin out just how long and dark Barbara Hedges' shadow really is!Remember Don James? He saw the writing on the wall and got out b4 his good name got tarnished along with the rest of the program. Seems like a long time ago , in a galaxy far, far away...

Most college coaches commit recruiting violations. Not all college kids are well mannered when they are off living on their own for the first time in their life...A few bad apples don't ruin an entire D1 football team... Marc Sanchez sure has a bad background. A slightly successful program by the name of USC covered up the rape and now he's playing on one of the nations best teams...

What about this guy? I wonder if he learned this behavoir in seattle or this is how they do it at USC. Pharms, a 250-pound linebacker from Sacramento, Calif., was a star at the UW. He bench-pressed more than 400 pounds, sported a pit-bull tattoo, and sometimes, during games, locked eyes with an opposing player and proceeded to urinate, the stream darkening his pants.http://archives.seattletimes.nwsource.co...0&date=20080128

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

He was the linebacker mentioned in the article.
We could talk about an upstanding young athlete like Jake Locker, but let's talk about the 2000 Husky football team instead.

It's a joke of an article. Any football program in America is going to have a few bad apples. There are 90 to 125 players in a big time college football program. Got to church, of 100 people I guarantee you there will be more than 3, probably 10 that are doing something illegal worthy of a fine or time. Go to a local resturant/bar, out of 100 people, several will be involved in bad behavior, pick 100 registered users of this site, I guarantee several will be conducting illegal behavior again worthy of a judge. Society is no different than a football program. The 2000 team may have a had a coach some don't like, but most of the players were of high character, or not involved in illegal behavior. The program has been on a high alert with the local media since the 1992 era, since everyone loves a story to destory success, rather than remember the good old days.

Actually, its not a story about "a few bad apples" or "antics". It is a story alledging repeated instances of obsrtuction of justice by the UW faculty, their pet attorney and the King County Prosecutors office. The reason it is being run now is that until recently, much of the damning information has been hidden from the public.

You're right, plenty of other people doing illegal things out there. The difference being is that if I did just one of the stupid things that they did, I would be the one actually going to jail. These guys got nothing more than a slap on the wrist. If anything, it cast a bad light on the relationship between organized sports and the legal system more than just the UW, and just reminds me of other groups that get special treatment. Whatever happened to the Makah's that vaporized that whale anyway?

When millions of dollars are on the line people tend to do stupid things i.e. crover up,sweep aside. dismiss. Does not make it right. It's just the way it is. Greed does strange things to people. Take kids of little charater, throw them into a multi million endeavor. What do you except to happen.

From what I understand of this series - it tells a tale of privelege and double standards. Does this happen in other College football programs? Of couse. Does the fact that it happens elsewhere diminish the importance of what is happening here? Of course not.

What do you except to happen. I guess I pretty much expect, that the law comes before some stupid football game. I pretty much expect that if you break any law that, you will be charged in a timely manner. That the charges won't just sit around until football season is over. Hows your swahali?
