Don't make this political, 'cause I'm not.

I've been working on getting utilities to a property where we want to build our next home. It's been issue after issue, which we have tackled successfully. The only problem is that we've been doing it for 14 months.

No utilities are adjacent to out property, so we have to run them from someplace, and as it turns out our neighbors property is the only place we can get it done that won't cost us $200,000 and will still be legal. This is the VERY abbreviated story.

The issue is that we needed to run utilities exactly where an unrecorded WSDOT drainage easement lies. Did the application and submitted it in October. Checked back in December and was told it would be another 6 months, maybe more. No contact since then from WSDOT, so I wrote Tim Sheldon, my senator, last Friday.

Got a call today from a very nice over-worked guy at WSDOT. They are going to the property today and we should be good to go by the end of March. Looks like it is on the fast track.

If I hadn't had that vasectomy 8 years ago, I'd name my next child Tim Sheldon!

True enough! Inboxes fill to overflowing and stuff gets stuck at the bottom due to sedimentary filing technique. Political nudges can get stuff off the bottom and back in circulation. Seen it happen more than once. Reminds me of a position that was left vacant over a year. The problem is that the former worker's inbox was left with unfinished project work that didn't get redistributed to the remaining workers until one of those nudges occurred.

WTG Dawg! I must be WAY too old school.....when you talk about 14 months and $200,000 I'd be thinking you were building a new Boeing plant or something! I personally HATE chasing around incompetence, yet it seems so commonplace any more that it is viewed as normal. How FU'd is that? Good Luck!

Nice. That's a cool piece of land you have. Looking forward to doing a little shooting there when you get done.
I figure about that time we will both be shooting bows at least occasionally.
It's also going to be the perfect place for Hunter to hold a party/concert on mom and dad's land when you guys go out of town for the weekend.
