As I remember, the automobile driving manual says the average driver's reaction time is: .75 seconds -or- 1 car length for every 10 mph... Test your reaction time with this special test. 2.5 seconds is the officially agreed on reaction time used by civil engineers when doing traffic analysis and calculations for sight-distance. 2.5 seconds is the average perception reaction time. This is the recomended value from the highway capacity manual or the MUTCD. Its the time from perception of danger to the actual braking execution.
