The hiring of the cca fisheries position is a new position. I dont know if the position was advertised or not. Like many key positions, in a variety of fields, exceptional candidates are contacted directly. He already had a job. If he wasnt interested he wouldnt be here. If ccapnw didnt trust him, he wouldnt be here. If he turns out to be a couch potato, he will be replaced, like anyone else on a payroll. Fisherman who dont trust cca, that want to cast dispersions on people that we hire to represent us, I say, go pound sand. We have a chairman, a board an ED and several committees that are completely comitted to achieving our goals. Those members who choose not to serve at the highest level of the organization, must trust those, who do. Just because you buy season tickets to the Sehawks doesnt mean you get to hire the quarterback. I continually read posts from people who are waiting for this or that to happen. Success doesnt happen.

Too many people forget what this fight is about. We had a near capacity crowd at the seatac banquet. Out of about 350 seatac members, less than half bought tickets. But tickets were sold to people who would come to the dinner and spend money. That is what that function is all about. Membership is different. Membership is a quantifiable number to politicians, that determine which way they vote and how much effort they give to our cause. Talk about integrity. We are either counted or not, depending on membership. That is the simple fact why we still have private ownership of guns in this country.

We dont need a designated speaker for websites. What we need is more fisherman who will spend the 25 bucks, to make sure the politicians know, we are serious and we wont take NO for an answer. CCA has no trouble communicating with its members. CCA has no trouble in winning.

Dams will eventually come down regardless. If other technologies had been present and cheap, dams would not have been built. CCA hasnt been pushing for dams, because until recently, there is no visual alternative. CCA will do what its members want to do. The withdrawl of support from oil or utility money, will not destroy our mission or our ability to raise money. (theyve already been involved in the removal of two dams in Maine.)

About 10% of members have the interest and the time to serve in a voluntary capacity. Ive been there. I know for a fact that a lot of volunteers have given up fishing for months at a time, due to their passion and objective. We still need the other 90% to be taken seriously. The current goal is 5000 for washington state. ONE YEAR. The next 1500 members could push us over the top.

I buy both my wife and mother a fishing license each year. They may only fish, shrimp or crab once or twice each year but we support the system.

By taking them to the Sno-King CCA banquet later this month and having purchased the tickets, they are now Associate members. Associates don't receive Tides, the CCA magazine. I already get a copy so it is better to have that extra $10 each go into other CCA funding.

The most important thing about all of our household having CCA membership is that we are all registered voters.

I have been distressed to see some of the name calling that has occurred on this board and hope those that have made these postings start following a simple rule when upset about an issue.

Write your message or letter, but don't send it for 24 hours. Re-read what you wrote and it it is still appropriate, then send it.

We all have different opinoins, that is human nature. Please remember that everyone has a right to their opinion. But let's work together, not fracture our efforts.

I suppose he could have been referring to any tackle company, I just didn't read it the way you did.

By the way, that's a rvrwhrlr in my avatar. thumbs

I am referring to "any" one that is acting in a way detrimental to "your" cause.

I feel the same ssf and it has nothing to do with rvrfisher spoons. Hard to sort out the players, but not everything those (mostly big) companies do is in our, or the fishes best interests.
