I'll second the motion, this isn't the first time.

where the he_ _ are PETA, Humane Society, Friends of the Animals and so on when these groups are really needed.
and why aren't the TV news media jumping all over this one!!!!!!!!
Maybe what's needed here is so old fashioned late 1800's western justice, to bring around the common good.

Hey, $20 is a lot of money.
This sure won't help their chances to get a permit...and I'm surprised they didn't think of that when getting this handled up.
Fish on...
Todd I copied your post because you are a lawyer. It says in the article that the Feds got the tribal members to plead guilty by promising things, one of things was immunity from being tried by the tribe. The tribe tried them anyway. Wouldn’t this null & void the guilty plea? You don’t have to answer that because it would. The question I have for you is how far do you think the tribe should have taken it without risking the guilty plea? To me it seems the tribe brought them in front of them to get their word that they won’t do this again, & maybe to tell them they were displeased and they did this despite the Feds asking them not to, probably knowing just exactly how far they could take it. ------------ The guy who thinks PETA isn’t involved doesn’t know much about how it all got to this stage. PETA, HSUS, Sea Shepard, I think PAWS, and many other animal wacko groups are & have been fighting with all their force to prevent this whaling. I guess a few board members here are wiling to join forces with them. There is a woman who belongs to PETA that had her name legally changed to Fishing Hurts. She is from Arizona (do they fish there?) she said because hooks hurt fish. Don’t believe me, type in fishing hurts on youtube, it is ridiculous.

Big Jim, What is unjust? They have pleaded guilty to the Feds, the Feds promised they would not be tried by the tribe - the tribe tried them anyway. Is the judgement of the tribe who was not supposed to try them (according to the Feds agreement) what you consider unjust?

" The deferral came after the judge summoned more than 200 people from the remote village of Neah Bay on the Olympic Peninsula to serve as potential jurors. "
Makes it sound like they walked 40 miles cross country with babies on their backs stopping every few miles for a whale jerky snack.. when in reality, they gassed up the Chevy at the Kwiki mart, grabbed a micro wave burrito and hit the road B-Run Steely don't forget the 40oz. in the paper bag. LOL

The article was not clearly written maybe someone has a better link. This writer writes worse than me! It takes quite alot of reading comprehension skills to understand WTF she is saying. Jumps all over the place, had to read it several times to get it. Jandlfishinguide, you haven't read it enough to get the story straight, you better try again. Oh never mind -just join PETA www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLf6TO8vj9M

This should surprise no one. Just goes to show what a joke the system has become. Talk is cheap $20 cheap. Way to re-enforce every stereo type out there and I guess they become stereo types for the reason. Nothing to stop the slaughter of any animal by the tribes deer, elk, salmon, steelhead, etc can now be kill with no worries about prosecution. Just pay 20 bucks out and be done.
JJ Its a joke alright. Whats the difference in between a treaty right to fish for ESA listed salmon and steelhead and the right to kill an ESA listed whale. The Feds keep changing the rules.

blue water pro, if your having trouble understanding what is unjust, why don't you and a few buddies go kill a whale tomorrow and see how that goes for you, pretty sure we won't be hearing from you for a few years, unless of course, your Makah! If I was Makah I would kill a whale. If I was Japanesse or Chinesse or whatever other country other than America is allowed I would kill that whale. It is not against my morals or religion to whale, not a PETA believer.

Yep, just read the story.... unjust. And just because i don't see killing a whale as right means I am a peta supporter? That is really weird, because they have no correlation. In fact, some chick changing her name to fishing hurts is about as relevant to this story as pam andersons rack. Out. Read it again, you still don't get it. The Feds are charging them not the tribe! Read it again.
