It is kind of interesting that this was the spring that never was as well. The snowpack in the mountains is incredible. It will be interesting to watch what shows up as the snow melts over the next few days. I would expect to see a push of fish into all of these rivers. They will show up the day after they close everything down!
Cheers,
Neal

Note that only the Cowlitz and Kalama have closed for Chinook...the Lewis remained open, and all three remain open for summer runs...not only that, but the limit has been upped to three summer runs on the Cowlitz and Lewis.

Fish on...

The Cowlitz has trout hatchery has 24
The Cowlitz Salmon hatchery has 58
The Lewis has 72

They call this an abundance?

The Lewis is the worst I've seen it in my 18 years of fishing it.... I can't remember the last time that I didn't nearly limit out on May 14th and 15th. Over the last 2 days we hooked 4 springers and boated 3 in which one was a Jack and one was a misclip BS hatchery fish we had to turn loose.

I find it hard to beleive that the fish are late at this point, thank god the Lewis hatchery has 70% of its needed fish for egg take.... I sure hope that the summer run return isn't bunk too. I'm getting tired of not hooking double digits...... zip

Was it an obvious misclip ? Misclips are legal to retain (both salmon and steelhead)
