I'm on the fence about whether it will be fishable from my small boat (15' Arima) at Neah Bay. We were planning fishing on Friday and Saturday.

Forecast is 2-3' wind wave and 4' swell. That's just enough to make me uncomfortable about heading out.

Is there anyone watching the forecast who has a small boat and is also a bit squeamish? Or does everyone just have 21' boats that can handle the seas?

I wouldn't be going out in a vessel the size of yours in those conditions.

There are plenty of 21' boats that venture way too offshore to be safe out there and cant handle the seas. I shake my head every time I see guys headed out in an open bow boat. 1 good wave and your done. To quote Jimmy Cliff from The movie The Harder They Come " Dont joke wit your life mon" Stay close to wadda and dont go too far past the cut between Flattery and Tatoosh and you should be ok.- Good Luck.-TBJ

Thanks. I always stay inside from Tatoosh and usually it's really good water. Every bit as calm as fishing Sekiu.

But... this time, I'm a little anxious. I'm hoping the mornings will be mellow and we can get off the water before the afternoon winds come up.

I'm out there in my 18' Seaswirl, but only head out past Tatoosh on the best of days. Your 15' Arima should be fine inside, as long as the weather is reasonable. Those Arima's are a lot more boat for their size than the average ski boat.

Keep an eye on the weather and be prepared to scoot home. Plenty of decent fishing from Waddah on out. I've started trolling there and made it out to Tatoosh, on the troll. You can always turn around.

Looks like the forecast has improved, so I'm off the fence and am committed to going. We may get blown off the water in the afternoon, but it's good enough to go take a look and get out at first light.

We'll be the three dorks in a 15' Arima with Yamaha motors.
