I heard it was closed a while back. Anyone know if it's open?

imo, the ramp was better b4 the remodel. The grade of the ramp is now so shallow that the front wheels of my truck are almost in the lake just to get the boat off of my bunk trailer and the water is sack deep at the trailer winch putting it back on. Somebody should be fired. foul lame cry

Actually you are right about it being better before. I launched there the other day and I had to get the bumper wet to get in deep enough to launch.

I just dont get it! There was nothing wrong with that ramp. Yeah the decking needed to be replaced on the docks. But why tear out all that concrete and replace it???
>$500,000.to fukup the only westside boatramp between Kenmore and Rainier Beach. It really is a tragedy.

So I just had a long conversation with Garrett Farrell, the project manager for the boat ramp remodel and a really nice guy. He says that one of the stipulations in aquiring the funding for this project was to lengthen the ramp from the existing 80' to 100'. Because seattle parks did not want to aquire the federal permit required to dredge the lake bottom, the only way to lengthen the ramp was to go with the shallow 1:12 pitch. He says he's getting a lot of negative feedback and would like me to email him with my gripes. I feel strongly that the city should tear it out and do it right. If you want to comment his email is garrett.farrell@seattle.gov

So was the slope changed for the jet skiers? Why was the 1:12 criteria used?

I dont want to see them waste any more money if there not going to add parking or more lanes. Maybe pave the stickerbush trail to the trailer parking?? smile

1:12 was the only way to get a 100' ramp without deepening the lake at the end of the ramp.

I can't imagine why anyone would need a 100' ramp on a lake that never changes more than 2'.

Their going to add floats onto the ends of the docks this fall. Which they need desperatly because th first 24' of dock/ramp is now less than 2' deep and basically useless. Even the jet skis will hit bottom when a big boat wake comes rollin in.
